Aviation Safety Analyst in GAC Savannah


Unique Skills:

Experience in Continued Airworthiness/Continued Operational Safety (COS) processes

Experience with aviation risk assessment methodologies

Knowledge of aviation Safety Management Systems (SMS)

Knowledge of System-Theoretic Accident Model and Processes (STAMP) and System-Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA)


Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree related field or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Master's Degree Aviation safety preferred. Entry level position. Aviation safety experience or specialized aviation safety academic background preferred. Experience in SMS implementation and sustainment preferred. Aviation accident investigator training and experience preferred. IS-GAO auditor training preferred..

Position Purpose:

As part of the Gulfstream Aviation Safety team, collect, organize and analyze safety related data to enhance safety performance across the company. Process, generate and present safety reports and briefs to facilitate the transition from a reactive to proactive safety-state with an accompanying continual improvement in safety culture.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  • Regularly interpret safety data and develop recommendations through trend analyses, gap identification, reports and presentations. Be well versed in SMS safety assurance and continual process improvement techniques. Maintain complete familiarity with regulatory and special interest group safety programs such as FAA, EASA, and ICAO, integrating the latest mandates, guidance and industry best practices pertaining to aviation safety. Disseminate the newest information and ensuring company policies and procedures are in compliance. .

  • Develop strong relationships with the teams of multiple organizations throughout the company to be able to effectively promote the safety culture. Participate in training and certification programs, to improve the overall effectiveness of the company's safety program. Attend Safety Seminars and Conferences as appropriate, and maintain memberships in key industry organizations to network and further relevant initiatives.

  • Develop required. predictive analytical models and evaluate statistical significance in aviation risk areas within the company. Become familiar with system safety risk analysis tools that prompt corrective action and monitoring.

  • Become familiar with, and participate in, safety review boards and continued operational safety activities. Participate in internal SMS auditing and analyze results. Provide recommendation for improvement.

  • Research, create, and develop new event detection and trending capabilities, prepare event analysis, and prepare reports and presentations to better communicate and mitigate risks across the corporation. .

  • Act as company air safety investigator. Participate in accident and incident investigations, supporting investigative bodies and recruiting company technical resources as necessary to support investigator-in-charge. .

  • Champion requirements to support business initiatives and continuous improvements. .

  • Integrate SMS policies, processes and work procedures into Gulfstream aviation practices. Align processes to the SMS component system and participate in educating company employees on their contribution to the larger safety system.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of project management methodologies and capability to manage sensitive and confidential data.

  • Strong quantitative analysis and PC skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

  • Safety performance auditing and CPI.
