Both part-time and full-time positions are available.Higher Grounds Trading Co. seeks hard-working and outgoing customer-oriented individuals to join our growing team of dedicated coffee professionals.

Full time opportunities are for our second cafe location opening in June at NoBo Mkrt, located in the Commongrounds building on 8th Street in Traverse City. NoBo baristas will also receive cross training for responsibilities involving food and bar service in a retail/restaurant environment. You do not need to have hospitality experience to apply; we only ask that you are excited to learn new things and provide exceptional service.

Primary Responsibilities:

*Provide top-notch, courteous and responsive service to our guests
*Craft and serve specialty espresso and brewed coffee drinks (as well as cocktails/beer/wine if you are cross trained for that role)
*Maintain a clean and organized work area
*Educate customers about the intricacies of making quality craft beverages and the purpose of our company

Requirements:
*Pleasant disposition with customers and staff
*Self-directed, organized, have a great attention to detail, and adaptable to aan ever-evolving workplace
*Able to lift up to 30 pounds repeatedly
*Able to stand, walk, and lift for an entire work day
*Maintain a professional appearance

Position Compensation: Starting wage of $12-13/hour + tips.

Greet customers and welcome them to our cafe

– Ring in customer transactions

– Prepare and make coffee drinks

– Improve, calibrate and create brewed coffee, espresso drinks, and other beverages

– Learn about and communicate the mission of Higher Grounds to customers

– Usual kitchen and food chores including cleaning cafe, cleaning dishes, restocking retail items and ingredients

– Fulfilling and delivering wholesale customer orders

– Lifting items up to 30lbs

– Cleaning bathrooms
