ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Obtain all necessary information to accurately verify eligibility
- Place calls to various health plans to obtain appropriate accurate benefit information
- Verify insurance benefits for clinic and procedural patients to determine if visits will be covered
- Verify medical insurance policies and guidelines
- Review clinical information for medical necessity
- Investigate problem accounts and forward to the appropriate person
- Date entry and scan in eligibility reports
- Properly document all benefit information received
- Develop effective relations with insurance representatives as well as providers and ISPM staff

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent, PC proficiency, data entry skills, organization, attention to detail and at least 6 months medical office experience, working knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9 and CPT codes and insurance verification experience (preferred).
Communication Skills:
Strong customer service skills. Ability to maintain good relationships with insurance representatives. Ability to effectively give and receive information from insurance carries, providers and ISPM employees.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
Working knowledge of Eclinical. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
