SUMMARY:
The Branch Manager is responsible for the overall operations and management of the branch. This role supports efforts to maximize revenue, sales, and member satisfaction. The Branch Manager contributes to the implementation of promotional campaigns and product initiatives at the branch level. Minimizes operational losses and member attrition, by strengthening existing relationships and assisting with the leadership and development of team members.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff, including approval of corrections and overrides, compliance with company policies and procedures and completion of all daily posting and reconciliations.
- Ensures branch staff is continuously providing exceptional service.
- Monitors performance and makes recommendations for evaluations. Ensures minimum performance standards are met.
- Works with branch personnel to improve cross selling, referrals, balancing skills and to provide updates on policy and procedure changes.
- Investigates and resolves member complaints, and researches member situations to resolve issues involving fees, loan servicing, etc.
- Provides loan services information and assistance to members by ensuring members complete credit and loan applications and obtaining credit reports if necessary. Junior Loan Officer lending authority.
- Be an active participant in the University Credit Union Management Team.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Balances operational controls to minimize risk to the company. Performs surprise cash audits, including ATM audits. Performs pre- and post-closing peer reviews of loans originated by branch staff.
- Balances teller cash drawers, does corrections on teller errors, provides tellers with supervisory overrides, orders and issues cash, balances vault cash and approves checks for tellers.
- Performs branch opening and closing duties as assigned.
- Monitors branch cash levels and orders cash as needed.
- Completes month/quarterly certifications such as: alarm testing, audits on negotiable items, instant card stock, etc.
- Complies with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
- Maintains records of teller overages and shortages for submission to V.P. Branch Administrator.
- Reviews time sheets of branch staff for accuracy and submit to V.P. Branch Administrator for approval at the end of the pay period.
- Assists members with concerns/complaints unable to be resolved by other staff members.
- Represents the branch as appropriate in its relationships with members, sponsor organization(s), suppliers, other financial institutions and similar groups.
- Maintains communications with main office, prepares and submits standard reports.
- Monitors branch operating results relative to established objectives and insures that appropriate steps are taken to correct unsatisfactory conditions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Three years of financial service experience or two years credit decision making/lending experience.
- Knowledge of teller functions, i.e. deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, daily reconcilement and minimum of two years serving in a position(s) requiring such knowledge.
- Knowledge of ATM transactions, share draft (check) processing and direct deposit payroll processing highly desirable.
- Knowledge of loan processing, credit report interpretation, employment verification and loan interviewing is desired.
- Ability to articulate clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Good reasoning ability and sound judgement.
- Ability to supervise, delegate, motivate or influence University Credit Union staff and maintain a significant level of diplomacy and trust.
- Ability to maintain order in an environment of changing priorities.
- Ability to work in a fast paced customer/service/sales oriented environment with accuracy.
- Computer knowledge and aptitude for accurate data entry.
- Ability to provide coverage and travel up to 25% for meetings or training.
