The position:
- Develops or maintains financial processes and statements of financial operating procedures, coaches staff in financial tasks, and coordinates corrective measures
- Manages periodic independent review and assessment for internal control procedures, such as systems of signing authority hierarchy, purchasing card programs, financial system access, cash handling, and/or local spending policies and procedures
- Contributes to a positive university experience for every student
- Collaborates with outside vendors, Student Affairs departments and other internal units to proactively resolve issues
- Participates in programs, seminars, and developmental trainings to gain a holistic view of financial and business operations of the University
- Consults with the University Controller, University Treasurer and the Office of Internal Audits to ensure appropriate processes, policies and controls are in place
- Manages recruitment-related travel expenses for Division
- Completes monthly fund reconciliations for Division-level funds
- Manages the finances of shared services programs in the division, including computer rotation program, IT services, phone services, etc.
- Assists with Graduate Assistant hiring processing across the division
- Manages the Student Affairs Diversity and Inclusive Excellence grants awarding process
- Processes relocation/moving reimbursement process for Division
- Prepares budget entries and budget modification entries
- Prepares journal entries and expenditure adjustments
- Provides administrative support for Student Affairs Budget Manager Meetings
- Provides clerical support for the Student Affairs Business Officer
- Assists with reports and projects as assigned
- Submits fund authority forms for Division
- Prepares deposits
- Completes monthly p-card reconciliation process
- Performs other duties as assigned
Master’s degree in accounting, business management, public administration or a related field
Accounting, budgeting or financial management experience in a a college or university setting
Strong written communication skills
Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Prepare written and/or technical products which convey concise, comprehensive and accurate findings and conform to guidelines; provide appropriate documentation to support conclusions; may review and edit the work of others. Convey and/or consult on issues of a moderately complex nature in a clear, concise, and organized manner. Ability to establish effective working relationships that foster organizational success. Modify delivery, language, or content to account for the characteristics and needs of the audience
Decision Making: Assess and may resolve unprecedented problems that require research and review of policy and procedures and regulations. Apply judgment for problem resolutions or program requirements based on delegated authority.
Professional Knowledge: Independently interpret and apply thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and their application to cost, governmental accounting, and non-governmental accounting. Apply knowledge of program specifics. Apply thorough knowledge of applicable information technology to perform the accounting duties. May develop and implement system changes.
