Status: Full Time – 80 hours
Hours: 8am-4:30pm

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Buyer is responsible for performing the ordering of merchandise as requested and approved in a time efficient and cost effective manner utilizing the computer system while maintaining a personable and courteous manner to end users and vendors. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.

Job Requirement:
  • Associate's Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance or 5 years equivalent experience in purchasing or business related fields
  • PC/Computer proficiencies, numerical as well as clerical abilities are needed
  • Telephone and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
Job Functions:
1. Processes timely, accurate and complete placement and follow-up of purchase orders for supplies and services.
2. Performs all required computer operations.
3. Maintains and consistently utilizes available resources prior to acquisition to obtain best pricing utilizing G.P.O. contracts when appropriate.
4. Serves as a liaison between Memorial Health System, vendors, manufacturers, internal customers and physicians while working with sales representative with an eye toward ideas, concepts, education cost containment and control.
5. Coordinates corrective action when problems are identified.
6. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Compensation Details: Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. Minimum hiring rate for this position is listed below.
