Camp Counselor
Job description
We are looking for a competent Summer Camp Coordinator to lead our high-quality, connected learning summer program for children. You will have an opportunity to make a difference in our community, make it stronger, healthier and a more equitable place. This summer learning opportunity supports underserved students helping them to build skills, make social connections and enjoy just plain summer fun. You will undertake a variety of coordination, administrative and supervisory tasks, collaborate in planning and organizing programs and activities as well as carry out important operational duties. To be an excellent Camp Coordinator, you must be proactive, organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with diverse teams, and be an effective communicator. If you have skills in program development, the passion, and can facilitate the smooth coordination of our summer programs, we’d like to meet you.
Examples of Duties:
· Coordinate high quality Summer Enrichment Camp
· Responsible for creating a healthy, safe, interactive, well-structured and supervised environment
· Supervise and evaluate part-time, intern, and volunteer staff
· Provide timely communication to camper’s families (newsletter, flyers, videos, etc.)
· Collaborate and communicate with Director of Youth Development
· Other duties as assigned.
Skills Needed:
· Key skills include: effective public relations and interpersonal skills, organizational principles and time management
· Computer skills such as Microsoft office, troubleshooting basic issues, and competency with email, social media and phone etiquette
· Ability to: establish effective working relationships between participants, parents, employees, and volunteers. Meet deadlines and see projects through to completion.
· Proven leadership skills, public speaking and effective communication with community, families, students, subordinates, peers and supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
· 1 to 3 years of work with children, parents, schools, and community organizations to develop and provide educational programs to youth, pre-school through third grade.
· Education: A Bachelor of Arts degree in early childhood education, human services, recreation, liberal studies, or a related field. Directly related experience considered in lieu of an educational requirement.
· Ability to pass a background check and knowledge of safety-sensitive situations
· Ability to lift up to 20 lbs (reasonable accommodations can be made)
· Ability to juggle multiple duties and go above and beyond the job description
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 per hour

- 8 hour shift
