TITLE OF POSITION: In-Home Caregiver/CNA

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

We are seeking energetic caregivers who are passionate about caring for others. At Qualicare, we believe in providing reliable, expert care to each of our clients.

We currently service the following areas: Wheaton, Naperville, Downers Grove, Hinsdale, Westmont, Lisle, Woodridge, Darien, and Warrenville.

As an In-Home Caregiver/CNA, you will work under the supervision of a Care Coordinator and perform various personal care services as necessary to meet the clients' needs. Caregivers are responsible for documenting these services as well observing clients and documenting those observations.

The In-Home Caregiver/CNA will be assigned in a manner that promotes quality, continuity, and safety of a client’s care.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities of the In-Home Caregiver/CNA include, but are not limited to the following:

• Provide client care as directed by the Care Coordinator.
• Provide companionship.
• Provide transport to doctor appointments, outside activities and shopping
• Perform household chores that include housekeeping, meal planning and preparation, shopping assistance, and routine household activities.
• Perform casual, cosmetic assistance, such as brushing a client’s hair, assisting with make-up, filing nails.
• Provide stabilization when a client is walking, as needed by holding a client’s arm or hand.
• Trained in topics related to human development and interpersonal relationships, nutrition, shopping, food storage, use of equipment and supplies, planning and organizing of household tasks and principles of cleanliness and safety.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma
• Comply with state registry regulations
• Minimum of two (2) year of documented experience required
• Negative TB skin test or chest x-ray
• Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision
• Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
• Ability to express spoken and/or written ideas in English
• Works as a team member
• Pass Background Check
• Experience with Hoyer Lifts/Gait Belts (Preferred)
• Experience working with Dementia/Alzheimer's (Preferred)

JOB LIMITATIONS:

The In-Home Caregiver/CNA will not function in any manner viewed as the practice of nursing according to practice acts. Specifically, the In-Home Caregiver/CNA will not administer medications, take physician’s orders or perform procedures requiring the training, knowledge and skill of a Licensed Nurse.

ENVIRONMENT, PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT OR PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Working Conditions:

Contact with client in their living environment. May be required to respond in an emergency situation. Travel required. Position includes tasks that have the potential for exposure to blood and other potentially infectious material (OPIM) such as body fluids/tissues.

Personal Protective Equipment:

May include gloves, mask, eye protection, CPR shield and disposable outer covering.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push and pull. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
