Job description
Under the direction of the Surgical Services Director and OR Nurse manager, the Central Sterile Technician Lead is responsible for the day-to-day decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department. The Lead has additional responsibilities of department audits, overseeing and maintaining trauma inventory, tray inventory and supplies. Responsible for ordering and maintaining par levels for department. Follows and educates staff of all applicable policies and procedures and Infection Control practices while performing all duties. Responsible for maintaining sterile processing equipment for the Surgery Department. Assist with annual accreditation audit. Assist with reviewing and updating sterile processing policies and procedures on an annual basis. Must be conscientious with regard to procedures and capable of working under pressure. Position requires 8 or 10 hour shifts and individual to assume "on call" duty on a rotating basis. Call required to cover evenings, nights, weekends and Holidays.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Central Sterile Technician required.
- Thorough knowledge of aseptic technique, sterilization techniques, infection control requirements required. Basic knowledge of medical/surgical procedures and terminology required.
- Current BCLS required.
- Communication and organizational skills required.
- Central Sterile Tech certification required
- Previous leadership experience preferred
- Computer/Microsoft Office skills preferred
- EMR skills preferred
