Certified Chemical Alcohol and Drug Counselor
Salary Range: $31,200 - $37,440
FLSA Status: Exempt Reports to: Clinical Supervisor
Counseling with emphasis on cognitive behavioral therapy working with substance use disorders. Assist and work with individuals, families and groups with issues that impact their psychological state and overall well-being due to addictions. Will assist individuals dealing with addictions and substance abuse; family, parenting, and other issues associated with addictions therapy.
Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality of records relating to patients' treatment.
- Encourage patients to express their feelings and discuss what is happening in their lives and help them to develop insight into themselves and their relationships within the realm of recovery.
- Guide patients in the development of skills and strategies for dealing with their substance use disorders.
- Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports.
- Counsel patients, individually and in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes towards recovery.
- Collect information about patients through interviews, observation, and tests.
- Act as patient advocates in order to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.
- Collaborate with other staff members to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans.
- Evaluate patients' substance use condition based on review of patient information.
- Meet with families, probation officers, police, and other interested parties in order to exchange necessary information during the treatment process.
- Refer patients, or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment programs and patients' progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives within sobriety.
- Plan, organize and lead structured programs of recovery for patients.
- Modify treatment activities and approaches as needed in order to comply with changes in patients' treatment status.
- Learn about new developments in the field by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, and establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies.
- Gather information about community substance use intervention needs and resources that could be used in conjunction with therapy.
- Monitor patients' use of medications.
- Supervise other CADCs, Peer Support personnel, mentors, and assistants.
- Plan and conduct programs to prevent substance abuse or improve community health and treatment services.
- Run workshops and courses about substance use disorder issues.
- Assist with support services for front office when needed / required

Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree
- Licensed in Kentucky with CADC I, CADC II, LCADC, or qualify for it
