PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Conducts the initial clinical assessment interview and documents relevant findings in the electronic medical record.
· Takes responsibility for ensuring an efficient clinical flow by loading patients into exam rooms, preparing patients appropriately for the clinical encounter, carrying out physician orders, and preparing exam rooms for new patients.
· Assists clinic providers with exams, treatment, procedures and testing as directed.
· Receives, assesses, prioritizes, documents and facilitates response to incoming clinic calls.
· Schedules tests, treatments and inpatient admissions.
· Registers patients by collecting accurate demographic and insurance information, as well as obtaining appropriate consents and providing any other required materials.
· Follows-up on lab and diagnostic test results to ensure information is relayed to providers efficiently.
· Assists with overall clinic operation by maintaining par levels in exam rooms and decentralized supply areas, cleaning and preparing exam rooms in between encounters, sterilizing instruments as necessary, and performing other duties as assigned.
· Accurately performs basic calculations for appropriate dose, safely prepares and administers prescribed medications, as ordered by the healthcare provider, in accordance with organizational policy and procedure.
· Performs phlebotomy and collects other specimens for accurate lab processing and analysis.
· Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth through participation in clinic meetings, in-service programs and continuing education programs.
· Maintains compliance with established departmental and organizational policies, procedures.
· Demonstrates work practices consistent with West Broadway Clinic, PC safety, security and infection control policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience
Successful completion of externship requirements as defined by the degree/certificate granting program. One or more years of experience in an ambulatory setting is strongly preferred.
Educational
A minimum of a Medical Assistant degree from an accredited Medical Assisting Program and certification /registration as a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Medical Assistants without certification/registration will be required to obtain this credential within 12 months of hire. Current CPR certification required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must possess strong knowledge of clinical practices and professional standards and demonstrate clinical excellence. Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and professional standards is important. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all stakeholders is critical. Incumbent must demonstrate personal traits of self-motivation; team orientation; professionalism; trust; hard working; willing to have fun in the work place; and place a high value on treating others with dignity and respect.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
