Position: Certified Medical Assistant - Physician Services

Job Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in Physician Services is responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to physicians and other healthcare professionals in a medical office or clinic setting. The CMA will perform a variety of tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the practice and the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

• Prepare patients for examination and assist the physician during the examination.
• Take patient medical history and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rate.
• Administer medications and vaccines as ordered by the physician.
• Perform basic laboratory tests, such as urinalysis and blood glucose monitoring.
• Assist with diagnostic testing, such as electrocardiograms (ECGs) and pulmonary function tests (PFTs).
• Provide patient education and instruction on medical treatments and procedures.

Administrative Duties:

• Greet patients and manage patient check-in and check-out processes.
• Schedule patient appointments and manage patient medical records.
• Verify patient insurance coverage and process insurance claims.
• Manage and maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
• Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
• Perform other administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assistant program is required.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification is required.
• One year of experience in a medical office or clinic setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer skills and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Must be able to work effectively as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
• Ability to use medical equipment, such as stethoscopes and blood pressure cuffs.

Working Conditions:

The Certified Medical Assistant in Physician Services will work in a medical office or clinic setting, and will be required to interact with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals on a daily basis. The work environment may be fast-paced and demanding, and may require the ability to work under pressure. The CMA may be required to work evenings or weekends depending on the needs of the practice.
