Position Tittle: Child Welfare Specialist II

Primary Duties:

• Works under the Supervision of the Director obtains Director or designee advice, consultation and signature on all court documents before submittal to the court and in emergency situations.
• Director reviews all case files for compliance every 90 days.
• Follows directions from the Program Manager to complete tasks for client services.
• Is available for crisis and or emergency child abuse investigations and works cooperatively with Pueblo of Pojoaque Police Department to complete child abuse investigation, make an emergency placement and submit the proper documents to court.
• Provides professional court testimony in regards to child abuse investigation, a childs at risk status and child abuse history.
• Determines nature of client’s situation by interviewing client, assessing medical, psychological, emotional and social information, and making on-site visits.
• Establishes a course of action by exploring options and reviewing with client.
• Obtains assistance for client by referring him/her to community resources, arranging for appointments and establishing rapport with other agencies.
• Maintains accurate and detailed reports, case records, progress notes, and related management information.
• Monitors client’s actions and progress with consistent follow-up.
• Provides compassionate assistance to clients suffering from substance abuse or issues relating to trauma.
• Petitions court to open cases, presents cases in court, and provides updates on cases to the court.
• Works closely with law enforcement on appropriate cases.
• Recommends temporary foster care to the judge in formal court proceedings as a means of protection of children in imminent danger.
• Develops a written plan with parents of removed children delineating goals and objectives.
• Place children with foster parents most equipped to meet their needs and arrange visitation with parents.
• Maintains client confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
• Responsible for replying to all ICWA Notices, as well as working with Enrollment on ICWA (Possible Enrollment) & Attends all ICWA monthly meetings and subcommittee meetings (Provide updates to Director)
• Other duties as assigned.
• Develops and Licenses Foster Homes

Job Related Qualification Standards:

• Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in a related social service area.
• 3 plus years experience in child welfare work.
• Preference given for a social work (or equivalent) License or certification in Forensic Child Abuse Investigations.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and able to be insured to drive a government vehicle.
• Must be comfortable working with law enforcement and tribal courts.
• Must be able to work with difficult clients in office or in their home environments.
• May occasionally need to work outside of normal operating hours providing emergency services.
• Must complete a criminal background check and drug screen.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
