Job description
Miller Brother Staffing Solutions is seeking qualified candidates for a Class A CDL Delivery driver. This is a 1st shift position with a pay range of $19-25/hour.
Class A CDL Local Delivery Driver
Shift: 1st 6am-2:30pm M-F
Pay Range: $19-25/hour
Screening Process: Resume submittal and face to face interview with the company
Class A CDL, clean driving record, and DOT Physical required.
Job Summary
Following procedures and the directions of the department leader, carry out delivery and pick-up of material and supplies needed by The Company and its customers. This will include but will not be limited to, maintaining effective communications with the warehouse department leader, promoting a harmonious work environment, and following standards, and company policies.
Essential Duties
1. The ability to work daily and on time.
2. Assures safety policies are strictly adhered to.
3. Organizes delivery run - with stops in order of location in reference to all other orders on the truck. This will generally be determined by location, but may be changed due to how material is loaded.
4. Secures load in a safe manner that meets all Federal, State, and Company standards.
5. Performs pre-trip inspections of vehicle to assure all federal, state, and local laws, as well as Company standards, are strictly adhered to.
6. Assures dry and clean delivery of material through use of tarps, cardboard, and plastic as needed.
7. Loads and unloads materials, when making deliveries to customers or to any of The Warren Company branch sites, to ensure proper handling and care being given to materials as well as showing courtesy to our customers and co-workers.
8. Communicates with the Erie warehouse from our branch sites, and from the farthest point in the delivery run. In this way keep apprised of any changes or additional deliveries or pick-ups that may occur after your truck has left the warehouse.
9. Returns promptly to the Company upon completion of delivery run.
10. Maintenance of an accurate trip log as required by law; this log must be kept up-to-date and the previous day's log must be turned into our office promptly at the end of each day.
11. Keeps truck work area clean and neat.

Additional Responsibilities
1. Performs other duties as assigned.
2. Helps out in other departments as required.
3. Keeps abreast of current trends and practices through reading, classes, seminars, etc. as required.
4. Has authority to refuse to drive if truck does not meet DOT Regulations / Safety requirements, unless it is deemed safe by a PA Certified State Inspection Mechanic.
Qualifications
1. Education equivalent to completion of the 12th grade.
2. CDL w/ DOT Medical Card
3. Good Driving Record
4. Able to work well with minimal supervision.
Maintenance Responsibilites
All truck drivers are responsible for some daily truck maintenance. Responsibilities are as follows:
1. Check Oil and Transmission Fluid Levels (both before and after the run)
2. Fill Gas or Diesel Tank at the End of the Day
3. Check Air Tanks for Water and Leaks in System
4. Batteries - Check Water Level
5. Radiator - Check Coolant Level
6. Tires - Check Air Pressure and Condition - Change When Necessary
7. Check Lights
8. Safety Equipment, Fire Extinguisher, Flares, Flags (make sure they are in place and functional)
9. Owners Card, Drivers License, Insurance Card or Any Other Work Papers Required to Operate Vehicle (make sure you have them in truck or on your person)
10. Keep the Truck Clean, Free of Litter in the Cab, the Windows and Mirrors Are Most Important
11. Report Anything That Does Not Work, is Broken, Missing, or Failing, to Maintenance.
12. All Diesels are to be Parked in a Place Where They can be Plugged in to Allow for a Sufficient Amount of Warm Up Time
Call-In Responsibilities
1. Call when you reach your at furthest stop, whether in or out of town.
2. Call from our out of town branches and when you are back within the city limits.
3. Call from the shipping/receiving phone where you are delivering or picking up.
4. Keep calls on the mobile phones as short as possible, we will call you when necessary. Using the customer's shipping/receiving phones will not add minutes to our mobile phone time.
5. Mark your Daily Trip record with "Call in Time" and "Operator".
6. The Materials Distribution Supervisor is also keeping tabs on "Call-Ins", noting driver's same, date, and time of call.
7. Any drivers who don't understand these instructions, should seek advice from their department leader.
