Who We Are
The Cleveland VA Medical Research and Education Foundation’s (CVAMREF) primary mission is to advance the success of VA Research through the efficient and flexible administration of grants and contracts. CVAMREF is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) and is part of a network of over 80-non-profit corporations (NPC).
CVAMREF manages all federal (non-VA), industry, and private foundation funded studies. Additionally, we support a variety of research and education programs that include seed grant funding and professional development for Foundation employees. The CVAMREF employs over 40 people, this includes research nurses, statisticians, coordinators, project managers, recruiters, and regulatory specialists. We have extensive experience in coordinating VA sites for large multi-center, governmental and pharmaceutical trials. We have expertise in leadership roles in trial development, VA central IRB submission for multiple sites, CRADA and budget development and approval, and coordinating technology to be utilized in clinical trials.
Position Summary
Working under general supervision, will provide clinical and administrative support for research within the department. The coordinator will serve as the primary contact for research participants and will document, observe, and deliver care to subjects enrolled in research studies in accordance with study protocols. Assists and collaborates with Research department leadership in the development of study budgets that are representative of the procedures outlined within protocols. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The Cleveland VA and the Medical Research Foundation.
Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Responsibilities)
- Provide clinical and administrative nursing support within your scope of practice for research trials, studies and/or projects
- Provide direct nursing care to research participants, follow research protocols and monitor patients for adverse events
- Instruct and counsel patients in research procedures
- Supervise IRB and Regulatory submission and monitoring in clinical trials
- Preform administrative duties such as scheduling, appointment coordination, phone calls, subject recruitment for clinical trials
- Collect, record and analyze patient data
- Participate in research team meetings
- May provide general supervision of non-nursing coordinators, students, administrative staff
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, skills, and abilities required)
- Associates degree from an accredited university in a science-related field required
- Nursing license in state of Ohio
- Strong time management skills
- Detail-oriented and well-organized, with the ability to handle a high volume workload
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and colleagues, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work well both individually and as part of a team
- Ability to interact with associates at all levels of the organization
What Will Make You Special (Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities)
- Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited university in a science-related field
- Completion of a clinical research certificate program
- Prior experience in clinical research
- Prior experience with IRB and regulatory aspects of clinical trials
- Phlebotomy and IV skills are highly preferred

Compensation
- Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications

Pay: $60,500.00 - $77,000.00 per year
