:Position Summary:
The Collections Representative is responsible for performing account follow-up and resolution of insurance and patient receivables. The collections representative position is accountable for collecting the maximum amount of overdue funds from insurance companies and patients, which may include a variety of techniques, collection methods, legal claims, and the selective useof outside collection services.
Position Qualifications:
Minimum of two years biller or collector experience required, preferably in healthcare and hospital based finance. Relevant education with knowledge of Billing and Collections procedures may substitute experience requirement.
Required Skills:
The collections representative must have the ability to work independently and also have the ability to work as a team. The collections representative must have great organizational, communication, and computer skills. The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, balance and reconcile figures, punctuate properly, spell correctly and transcribe accurately is required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work insurance pools and contact insurance companies to resolve claims that are not paid in a timely manner
- Print and send claim forms with necessary attachments
- Send patient monthly billing
- Correct fast claim rejections/billing rejections Collections Representative
- Review/Submit overdue patient’s accounts for collections
- Review accounts receivable
- Knowledge of accounts receivable/payable process
- Call insurance companies regarding denials/unpaid claims
- Post insurance/personal payments to patients accounts
- Follow all policies and procedures of Business Office and organization
- Adhere to schedule work hours
- Adhere to lateness guidelines
- Follow and understand all OSHA Guidelines
- Support finance operations by performing additional duties and tasks as directed.
- Interact with patients and fellow employees in a mature and responsible manner
- Strive to be professional, courteous, helpful and cooperative at all times
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor
