COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS (CCR) COACH (Temporary Grant Funded)
The College and Career Readiness Coach works with identified students, their parents, school staff, IHE’s, and the community to improve the students’ educational and career outcomes in order to ensure students are college and/or career ready
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience working with youth and students, facilitating meetings, trainings, and presentations
- Experience with the U.S. college admissions and financial aid process
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Ability to listen and resolve conflicts effectively to include managing multiple priorities to meet deadlines
- Working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, MS Office, and Google Suites
- Must be an advocate for the mission, values and goals of GCSD and its College and/or Career Readiness initiatives
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and conduct college and career readiness initiatives of GCSD
- Mentor and work with students to develop an action/academic plan and provide resources to ensure the accomplishment of the students’ identified college and/or career goals
- Work with students and families in understanding graduation requirements as well as completing scholarships, college applications, and/or creating resumes and completing job applications
- Plan annual field experiences to IHE’s and businesses that are of interest to assigned students
- Assist in the development, continuation, and/or improvement of work based learning opportunities
- Deliver presentations as needed to schools, organizations, etc. to establish and/or improve support for the GCSD College and/or Career initiatives to increase such opportunities as job shadowing, mentoring, sponsorships, and/or apprenticeships (Community Liaison)
- Develop and maintain relationships with parents and educators and create partnerships with schools and education non-profits
- Conduct ongoing needs coaching with identified students and work with the students, the schools, staff, and families to identify and advocate for solutions
- Work closely with the schools and IHEs to ensure students are on track for promotion, credit, and/or graduation
- Collaborate with school staff to design and deliver professional learning around college and career readiness for staff and families
- Assist in providing age-appropriate resources and CCR information at the middle school level
- Promote and assists school participation in key college & career readiness (CCR) events, as well as partnering with staff to plan school-based CCR events
- Promote student enrollment in CTE, college-level, and AP courses to ensure preparation in meeting post-secondary goals
- Work with students, parents, and school counselors to track students’ progress towards college and/or career readiness upon graduation
- Work with school counselors and teachers to incorporate and promote career/college readiness goals in classroom instruction for all students
- Perform other duties as assigned
