Position Specific Responsibilities
Reporting to the Dean, the Communications and Marketing Specialist for the College of Applied Studies will focus on building brand and reputation among stakeholders to advance the College, its mission, and its priorities. Stakeholders include prospective and current students and their families, alumni, donors, practitioners, university officials, the community, funding agencies and foundations, and city and state representatives. In this role, you will have direct access to leaders, faculty, and students that will enable you to tell compelling stories that highlight the college’s impactful work. You will also be directly engaged in the college’s recruitment and retention activities. If you are self-starter and able to work independently, we encourage you to consider this position.

Summary of Responsibilities

Develops and implements communications and marketing content and strategies to achieve business goals.



Essential Functions

Oversees communications and promotional projects, campaigns, events, and services. May lead staff in the design and implementation of communication content and marketing materials.
Develops communications messaging and designs marketing materials in print, audio, and/or online publications. Ensures visual standards and messaging align with goals and objectives.
Collaborates with university staff and related departments to develop and implement communications content and marketing campaigns and events that engage and enhance the customer experience.
Researches target audience, ensuring communications messaging and marketing campaigns and events align with perceived perception of service and value. Develops long- and short-term marketing and communications objectives through customer response analyses.
May assist with the monitoring, tracking, and management of annual communications and marketing budget.
May develop, coordinates and execute event planning. May coordinate all aspects of events to facilitate effective presentation of programs or events.

Requirements

Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or related field by hire date

Preferred Education

Minimum Experience
Three (3) years of experience in marketing, communications or related field

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong skills pertaining to the planning and execution of communication via paid, earned, shared and owned media
High level of knowledge regarding brand, reputation and integrated communication
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to contribute to a campus climate in support of diversity and inclusive excellence
Ability to consistently and positively interact with colleagues and other constituents
