Location: Remote/Virtual - Must Be a Michigan Resident
Purpose: The purpose of this position is to elevate awareness and understanding of publicly funded behavioral health services available to children, youth, and families enrolled in Medicaid, including foster, and adopted children.
This position will be responsible for the engagement, outreach, and communications campaign to improve information around access to behavioral health services for children, youth, and families. This position will assist in coordination and tracking of key elements in the work scope for the Clinical Service and Support Navigation section, and the Family and Community Partnerships section.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct a broad scale outreach effort to eligible families, as well as the behavioral health system and child welfare system, to educate all parties about the available services.
- Identify a variety of methods and strategies for communicating information about available behavioral health resources to Michigan families, including services offered by those in the payer and provider systems.
- Identify effective methods of communicating with families about services they are entitled to and how to access them.
- Identify a variety of methods and strategies to educate the behavioral health system and child welfare system.
- Plan and engage a paid outreach effort to reach eligible families and educate the behavioral health system on issues of awareness and consistency in the understanding of available services.
- Work directly with the leadership of Bureau of Children’s Coordinated Health Policy and Supports (BCCHPS) and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Communications Team for approval of development of proposals for various campaign initiatives.
- Oversee additions to the MDHHS website for BCCHPS and MI Kids Now to provide clearer and up-to-date information regarding available services.
- Operationalize a MI Kids Now shared mailbox to collect input from Michigan families and behavioral health partners.
- Establish a newsletter to eligible and interested families, providers, payers and more through GovDelivery.
- Assist in coordination and tracking of key elements in the work scope for the Clinical Service and Support Navigation section, and the Family and Community Partnerships section.
- Work directly with Division Director, Section Managers, and other MDHHS staff on collaborative efforts with respect to needs involving customer service, contract requirements, and children, youth and families involved in multiple child-serving systems.
- Assist in tracking and analysis of identified data points in work scope for the division and share information with division and bureau leadership and staff.
- Always represent the best interests of MDHHS and MPHI.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Education: Requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Communications, Psychology or Counseling. Strongly prefer a master’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Communications, Psychology or Counseling. Applicable licensure for Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling by the State of Michigan preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience as a public health communications professional, community health educator, or community outreach specialist. Experience working collaboratively with child-serving human service systems highly preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Standard office or home office environment. May require moderate physical effort including lifting materials and equipment of <25#. Involves viewing a CRT or VDT screen 25% to 75% of the time. May require valid vehicle operator’s license where needed to perform duties of the position. #LI-REMOTE
