The CCC Backcountry Trails Program (BCTP) is the longest running special program of the California Conservation Corps. We’ve operated for over 44 years. Every year, 80 young adults are selected to participate in the program. They are placed on six crews assigned to remote locations throughout the state where they perform incredibly physically demanding trail repair, maintenance and construction in various National Forests and National Parks helping make our public lands safer and more accessible to our citizens.

The functional title of the BCTP Conservation Supervisor is Program Manager (PM). The PM is responsible for the overall direction and administration of this incredibly unique special program. They will be responsible for the following:

• Securing program funding annually and managing reimbursement contracts and grants Program budget management Planning, coordination, and management of trail-related conservation project Direct supervision of nine program staff that includes six Backcountry Trails Camp Supervisors, one Program Coordinator/Relief Supervisor, one AmeriCorps Coordinator, and one Program Assistant Overseeing and directing all areas of program operations Managing staff and corps member recruitment Partnership development

This position requires extensive travel, upwards of 100+ days, that includes backpacking into remote wilderness locations for crew visits during the program’s field season. This backpacking requires hiking in extremely strenuous conditions (e.g. 10 miles or more, steep and rugged terrain, high elevations, and extreme weather conditions).

Ultimately this position will be responsible for carrying on the BCTP’s amazing legacy of transforming the lives of young adults through its unique program design that incorporates wilderness immersion, hard work, regiment and structure, nature exploration, and a cohort experience.

Pay: $6,378.00 - $7,927.00 per month
