Job Description: Whitko Career Academy - Construction Trades Instructional Assistant

Non Certified Position (180 school days)

Hourly Paid Position: $20.00 per hour

Time: Full-time 7:30 a.m – 3:15 p.m. (7.75 hours / 38.75 hours week) 2223-29

Essential Responsibilities:

• Supervise Construction Trades students, maintaining an effective working environment: promotes a commitment to educational achievement (encourages positive study habits, strong work ethic)

• Assists the Construction Trades Teacher with planning, organizing, and set-up of all classroom lessons and activities.

• Work cooperatively with the Teacher of Record for each special education student and their Individual Education Plan (IEP) on record with the school corporation.

• Communicates directly with the Construction Trades teacher in regards to student coursework, progress, and cooperation in the construction trades projects and activities.

• Provides 1-1 assistance to students needing additional help in regards to coursework for Construction Trades classes.

• Assist Construction Trades teacher with daily classroom duties: such as attendance, set-up, monitoring and supervision of students.

• Monitors hallway, bathroom, and area outside of classroom before school, between session, and after school.

• Assists in the development of daily tasks, schedule of duties on work sites and the supervision of students while at the work sites

• Effectively completes tasks assigned by the Construction Trades teacher (ex: data entry, data disaggregation, or other general office work as necessary)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be organized, committed, and able to work with students of different learning levels. This individual must have a general knowledge of construction trades areas to provide assistance for students..

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma; related experience and/or training, previous experience working with high school students is a plus.

• The position of Construction Trades Instructional Assistant reports directly to the Construction Trades Teacher and the Director of Whitko Career Academy for Whitko Community School Corporation.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Day shift
• No weekends
