Job Description
This role is a key newly created position responsible for the delivery of process innovation and continuous improvement initiatives across Jupiter Aluminum.
Provides one-on-one coaching to managers and leaders to support lean effectiveness and development.
Manages, monitors, and coordinates the organization's work plan including researching, analyzing, identifying opportunities, and making recommendations for performance improvement.
Responsible for leadership and development of programs that educate the workforce about lean concepts that lead to the identification, development, and implementation of improvements across operations.
Drive and foster a culture of sustainable change through the creation and embedding of LEAN methodology, and the supporting framework, to deliver business transformation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directs and facilitates the ongoing lean improvement process with techniques such as Kaizen, 5’S, TPM, Kanban, Policy Deployment, etc.
- Develops and tracks metrics related to improvement activities; and promotes standard processes, improved flow, waste elimination, and support management for daily improvement activities.
- Provides strategic leadership to production personnel and assures that facility improvement initiatives support corporate strategy and goals.
- Provides lean improvement orientation and on-the-job training for teammates and ensures that the responsibilities are defined and understood and oversees the lean projects.
- Teaches others to lead improvement efforts, including training on effective tools for successful project leadership.
- Establishes metrics to monitor financial savings, and measures the variances (actual results versus target)
- Identifies the needs related to improvements in safety/ ergonomics and assists in developing and implementing solutions to these issues.
- Develops and maintains annual value stream mapping efforts, Continuous Improvement plans, and calendars.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
Continuous improvement manager must, highly analytical and experienced with project coordination, using their problem-solving skills to foresee obstacles and make strategic decisions. Also, excellent mentors who can clearly express complex ideas. Aside from a bachelor’s degree in engineering, management, or a related field, employers look for candidates with the following skills:
- Ability to engage a cross-functional team towards the desired outcome.
- Strong change management skills to include the practical implementation of Lean Manufacturing Principles and Concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem resolution skills at both strategic and functional levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize and plan the use of time and people effectively and efficiently.
- B.S., B.A, or a similar degree with an emphasis in manufacturing, or equivalent is desired with a full working knowledge of Lean Concepts with demonstrated success Six Sigma experience is a plus. Proven analysis and presentation skills.
- Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience preferred.
- Minimum accredited Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, preferably Six Sigma Black Belt certification
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Domestic Travel approximately 5-10%
