Summary of Responsibilities: The Controller is responsible for financial activities, accounting, and reporting for Wisconsin Institute of Urology. Areas of support include payroll, accounts payable, managing the general ledger, participation in the creation and analysis of budget, performing financial transactions, management of all corporate bank accounts, and company financial reporting.
The ideal candidate for this role possesses a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, certification as a CPA in the State of WI, and five years of experience in healthcare finance/accounting. Candidates will have experience managing a general ledger, participating in the creation and analysis of a budget, are a reliable individual as well as an effective team member, and strong GAAP knowledge. This individual possesses strong analytics, has experience in various financial software programs, and the ability to communicate with people at all levels of the organization including physicians, employees, and third-party vendors/support.
Essential Job Duties:
- Managing accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting transactions.
- Prepares budget reports and financial statements and provides insight into findings. Participates in monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses on financial results, trends, costs, and provides recommended adjustments.
- Supports the facilitation of timely audits and reviews findings with external auditors. Communicates audit findings to key internal stakeholders including physician owners and executive director.
- Tracking fixed assets and preparing depreciation schedules.
- Posting, updating, and reconciling journal entries
- Performing month-end closing
- Reconciliation of bank statements and cash journal entries
- Supporting the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure organizational compliance with GAAP.
- Identifies areas of opportunity and implements changes accordingly, with a focus on alignment with GAAP and organizational profitability. Participates in identification and implementation of enhanced revenue for WIU/Entities supported.
- Other duties as assigned or self-volunteered.
Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, certification as a CPA in the State of Wisconsin. Preferred to have five years of experience in healthcare finance/accounting, will consider candidates with nonhealthcare experience in comparable roles/duties listed within job description. Ability to perform accounting functions while also creating and providing reports and financial insight and information allowing for company owners to make informed decisions, ensuring the solvency of the entities involved. Ability to show strong initiative and be a self-starter, making independent, reliable decisions to solve problems. Evidence of leadership qualities and effective communication skills. Must have organizational skills and be able to use Microsoft Office, including Excel, Teams, QuickBooks, various payroll programs, and SharePoint. Must work in a cooperative manner, exhibiting professional behavior with coworkers, physicians, WIU/WISE staff and general public at all times, regardless of situation.
Position may include extended periods of sitting and/or standing.
Job Relationships: Controller has no supervisory responsibilities and reports to the Executive Director or a delegee.
