DEFINITION
Under general supervision of an assigned manager, performs a variety of duties related to the college International Student Program and serves as the Primary Designated School Official with responsibility for maintaining compliance with Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security regulations regarding admissions, monitoring, advising and reporting of F-1 visa students.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This position promotes effective and efficient International Student college outreach and enrollment by developing and implementing streamlined enrollment steps. This position is expected to develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with international high school counselors in order to highlight college programs and services. Provides work direction to lower-level staff. Supervision is provided to student workers.
Incumbents in this position support student learning outcomes and institutional effectiveness by providing college access and success through the provision of enrollment and student support programs and services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Coordinate the admission of international students, including use of the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) to maintain accurate records and compliance with mandated immigration regulations; explain, interpret, and apply immigration regulations relating to international students; prepare and maintain detailed and comprehensive reports, records and files regarding students and program activities;
- Coordinate activities related to student outreach, student onboarding, college-wide outreach/in-reach, orientation, and success activities;
- Develop and implement a strategic international student recruitment plan using digital communications, social media, direct outreach, and partnerships with other educational and governmental agencies;
- Monitor all aspects of SEVIS compliance including such functions as work authorizations, reinstatements, change of status, transfer procedures, and updates.
- Assist in the marketing of the program by serving as a liaison to area language programs and represents the college to community organizations, schools, agencies, and embassies;
- Design and deliver oral presentations; conducts workshops and meetings designed for international students including orientation, immigration information, and other program events;
- Provide information to prospective students about college programs and services; refers and connects students to appropriate campus resources for in depth program information;
- Collaborate with Marketing to develop high quality marketing materials for International Student events;
- Provide training and immigration updates regarding current immigration regulations affecting F-1 visa students to the Designated School Officials;
- Provide assistance and information to international students regarding support services, including acculturation programs, housing resources, F-1 employment resources, and health insurance coverage; monitors compliance with nonresident requirements for international students who seek employment with the college;
- Verify residency requirements for entering students including applying non-resident and international student regulations, determine and send appropriate forms;
- Interpret and apply admission and registration rules, regulations, and policies;
- Attend meetings as required; serve on committees and special projects as assigned; coordinate program operations with other campus programs and services as needed; and
- Perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Required
- Associate Degree
Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree
Experience:
Required
- One-year of demonstrated, progressive, and substantial professional experience and/or direct community involvement; and experience working with international students as it pertains to the facilitation of post-secondary enrollment.
Preferred
- Completion of courses in Program Specific areas; and/or
- Two years' experience working with Program Specific experience
- Bilingual in Spanish (oral and written)
Knowledge of:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the services and resources available to students, and demonstrated experience developing partnerships and cultivating collaborative working relationships with internal and external constituencies including local, state, and national organizations focused on serving undocumented and immigrant groups;
- Policies, objectives and outcomes of assigned programs and activities;
- Current and historical legislation, news, and cultural issues related to the undocumented community.
- Current technologies, personal computer, and associated office software such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and/or database software;
- Correct usage of English, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary; and
- District policies and procedures.
Ability to:
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties; and
- Demonstrate a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students and of staff and students with physical and learning disabilities.
Physical ability to:
- Read and comprehend printed matter and text and data on computer monitors;
- Communicate intelligibly and effectively via speech, telephone, written correspondence, and/or email;
- Sit or stand for extended periods of time;
- Lift and/or carry 25 pounds; and
- Exert manual dexterity sufficient for keyboard and other office equipment operation.
License and Certificates (current within the last year or must be continuously current):
Required
- Valid driver's license and eligible to obtain California driver's license upon hire.
Expected Schedule: Monday/Thursday/Fridays 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Tuesday/Wednesday 9:30 am - 6:00 pm. Ability to work evenings, weekends, & holidays on special requests.

SALARY SCHEDULE
Below is the full salary schedule range for this position, steps A through E. Per Cuesta College’s bargaining agreement, new employees are placed at Steps A through C, which is the anticipated hiring range also listed below. - Salary Schedule Range: $4,771 - $5,800 per month.
- Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,771 - $5,260 per month.
