Created in 1993, LAHSA is a joint powers authority of the city and county of Los Angeles. As the lead agency in the HUD-funded Los Angeles Continuum of Care, we coordinate and manage over $800 million annually in federal, state, county, and city funds for programs providing shelter, housing, and services to people experiencing homelessness.
The Youth Homelessness Demonstration Project (YHDP) is an initiative from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) designed to reduce the number of youth experiencing homelessness. The goal of the YHDP is to support selected communities across the United States, in the development and implementation of a coordinated community approach to preventing and ending youth homelessness.
Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Special Youth Initiatives, the YHDP Coordinator will assist with the implementation and continuous quality improvement of a Coordinated Community Plan (CCP) to address youth homelessness in the Los Angeles Continuum of Care. This position will work in close partnership with various LAHSA departments, the Homeless Youth Forum of Los Angeles (HYFLA), technical assistance partners, youth service providers, and youth system partners.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist the Youth Team at LAHSA in the provision of YHDP through the implementation of the project plan, ensuring that objectives are met and communicating when project deadlines are approaching.
  • Liaison with partner agencies and stakeholders in various community meetings, assisting with setting the agenda, facilitating conversations, and providing presentations or briefings on all aspects and progress with the implementation of YHDP.
  • Develop channels for continuous feedback to build shared ownership and continuous improvement, effectively communicating with the Senior Manager of Special Youth Initiatives and the Youth Team about concerns before they become problems that hamper the quality implementation of YHDP.
  • In a timely manner, track and process compensation for Youth and Youth Adults across the County who engage with LAHSA programming.
  • Coordinate with the Youth Team to support projects, pilots, and initiatives for the Youth System developed by LAHSA, and the strategies put forth by the City and County of Los Angeles.
  • Support SPA Regional Coordination to strengthen service delivery for homeless services in each region.
  • Identify opportunities to collaborate with the Youth Advisory Board Coordinator to ensure that HYFLA maximizes opportunities for engagement and feedback relative to continuous quality improvement of projects supported by YHDP.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Government systems and functions as they relate to the implementation of key initiatives aimed at reducing homelessness.
  • LAHSA funded programs, including best practices in the delivery of homeless services like the Housing First philosophy, Trauma-Informed approaches, and Healing-Centered engagement.
  • Software:
  • Microsoft & Google Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc…)
  • Zoom and Microsoft Teams Digital Conference Tools
  • Outlook Email and Calendar

Preferred Skills:

  • Demonstrated organizational skills and proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Experience with program development, program implementation, program management, etc.
  • Competence in gathering, aggregating, analyzing, and presenting data.

Ability to:

  • Communicate clearly verbally and in writing through unambiguous language.
  • Quickly revise and adapt to change, and ability to think critically and strategically.

Training & Experience

  • Proven work experience and/or education/credentials as it relates to the position.

This requirement is in response to the public health emergency and is intended to reduce the spread of COVID-19 among LAHSA employees, our stakeholders and those we serve – it will remain in effect for the duration of the public health emergency.

Schedule

  • The Executive Director or designee may change the schedule of positions between remote, hybrid and onsite, as necessary to accomplish LAHSA business.

Pay: $64,272.00 - $89,436.01 per year
