Basic Purpose

The Information Security Services Lead is a critical role in the transformation of Information Security to ensure organization-wide understanding and accountability for the protection of our data and resiliency of our systems. Infosec Services Leads will serve as key points of contact for initiatives and business units to aid in implementing security controls in distinct functions and aspects of Navy Federal business operations. In doing so, the InfoSec Security Services Lead is an advocate for building a culture of security across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Provide security consulting and advisory support to business unit stakeholders in the form of security issue identification, escalation, and remediation. Facilitate delivery of information security services while balancing business units needs and information security control requirements.
  • Drive cyber security specific strategic initiatives through assigned business unit areas and initiatives.
  • Ensure business unit awareness of and compliance with Security Governance instructions and standards
  • Develop security policies/standards/procedures that increase the holistic security posture of products and services offered from lines of business
  • Assist with ensuring adherence to information security policies, standards and procedures. Advise on alternatives, such as compensating controls, to resolve issues and exceptions.
  • Advise on issues management activities for issues relating to information security (audit, NCUA, self-identified, etc.)
  • Facilitate and serve as business unit subject matter expert regarding Information Security Governance.
  • Participate, as appropriate, in supporting the appropriate and necessary security events in the project lifecycle.
  • As applicable, articulate implications of risks and issues to business owners, assist with security exceptions.
  • Consult with business unit on compliance with internal Information security policies and standards as well as externally-driven information security regulations.
  • Participate in Information Security Governance-related councils and working groups, as appropriate. Prepare written documentation for a wide range of security topics; for example, control assessments, remediation strategies, position memoranda, and other topics as required by leadership.
  • Champion information security awareness and advocate prioritization of security practices; be a voice for security within business units and enterprise project teams
  • Lead/facilitate security-based trainings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Cyber security, Risk Management, or the equivalent combination of training, education, and military experience
  • Advanced hands-on experience in cybersecurity, information security, and/or information technology or related field
  • Experience managing a team, directly or indirectly; project management experience highly desired
  • Ability to manage multiple complex priorities and competing agendas without express authority over teams
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills to interact with leaders at multiple levels and facilitate team interactions
  • Ability to present and give talks, facilitate workshops and discussions, and create compelling and engaging presentations to an array of audiences
  • Strong understanding of risk management and regulatory requirements pertaining to information security, privacy and/or data protection
  • In-depth understanding of industry standards (ISO, NIST, CRISC, COSO, ITIL)
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and regulations across a large, complex business
  • Analytical aptitude with an emphasis on using an inquiry-based approach, methodical critical questioning and logical thinking; ability to identify and report on key metrics
  • Advanced skills with MS-Windows and other related PC applications
  • Working knowledge of financial industry to include FFIEC, NCUA, and/or PCI DSS.
  • Advanced hands-on experience working within application security requirements and CI/CD pipeline deployments.
  • Advanced hands-on experience with agile ways of working including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Advanced hands-on experience with tooling such as Azure DevOps (ADO) and JIRA.
  • Advanced knowledge of languages such as Python, PowerShell, and Java.

Desired Qualifications

  • Certifications from governing bodies through ISACA, ISC2, and/or SANS.
  • Experience (and preferably certification) in agile methods and ways of working

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report on-site 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting on-site will ultimately be determined by the employee's leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and on boarding process.

Salary Range: $101,000 - $185,200 annually

Navy Federal Credit Union assesses market data to establish salary ranges that enable us to remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range, based on your experience, location and market position.
