Job Summary

The Demand and Workforce Planning Specialist ensures staffing levels and resources are aligned with operational needs for our North America cargo warehouses and ground handling stations. The primary responsibility of this position will be to proactively plan headcounts, authorized hours, and create monthly rosters (short-term and medium-term) for multiple locations. A successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, curiosity, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tactical & operational rosters and schedules to Planning Managers and/or Operations Managers at WFS:
  • Ensure accurate staff schedules are maintained and customer service level agreements (SLA’s) are met through effective and efficient planning of staff and equipment resources.
  • Generate optimal headcounts and hours for stations through a biddable roster; adequately meet forecasted workload demand in keeping with flight schedules, volumes, and labor regulations
  • Update Planning model for each station with revised inputs (engagement standards) as needed
  • Periodically re-run model to validate current plan
  • Update model to reflect changes in flight schedule, customer mix, commodity mix, workflow, arrival curves, etc.
  • Assist in contributing to operational profitability through proper efficient planning of resources:
  • Determination and implementation of effective engagement standards
  • Monitor changes in operations: Flight schedule changes, Commodity mix changes, Customer mix changes and changes in arrival curve behaviors.
  • Roll out and embed new rosters monthly
  • Supporting Operational compliance and Financial reporting processes:
  • Review and monitor Planned vs Actual hours while tracking, managing and reporting out KPIs
  • Ensure that adequately trained staff are scheduled in order to satisfy the requirements of the various airlines while meeting Safety and Security standards
  • Support Planning Managers in budgeting and reforecasting activities
  • Analyze, advise and deliver basic necessary data for annual budgets and seasonal forecast processes
  • Use actual data to finetune existing Planning & Scheduling of local stations in the region
  • Analyze and use actual operational data to optimize any local organization

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 0-2 years of experience OR 2+ years’ experience in workforce planning or business analysis
  • Intermediate or advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of resource management software (Inform/GS Planning, Zafire, Sabre Staff Plan, SITA) is an asset, but not mandatory
