Job description
The Designer III position in the Proposals group shall be responsible for the review of customer technical documents for equipment requirements and identify suitable equipment offering(s) that shall meet the customer surface/ subsea drilling or production needs. Previous experience with subsea drilling and production equipment is required, and past experience with surface drilling, production, or tie-back equipment is preferred. The position entails working in a fast pace environment during the project proposal stage(s), and shall be involved in technical handover during project execution. The following are a key position requirements:
- Be able to coordinate and clearly communicate with department engineers and other company departments as may be required. Communications may include market survey information, past sales/supply history, and coordination with relevant Product Engineering groups.
- Be able to schedule required drawings within designer group in alignment with the project bid package timeline.
- Responsible for multiple facets of the design development process and documentation including creation of design packages, design layouts and 3-D models, review and creation of engineering documentation, and consideration of efficiency in design development.
- Possess the ability to read and understand technical documents supplied with a request for quotation in coordination with current industry standards, and shall be capable to process large volumes of technical equipment information.
- The ability to differentiate between critical bid requirements and preferences, and provide relevant feedback to engineers involved in the bid package development.
- Ability to interact with the Technical Proposal team as designers will be tasked with the oversight of the creation of new drawings. Example of drawing deliverables: System Stack-Ups, Scope of Supply & General Arrangement drawings, P&ID drawings, Component Level drawings and Sequence Drawings to name a few of our typical drawing deliverables to the client.
- Be able to conceptualize designs that are reinforced with preliminary calculations to confirm feasibility.
- Shall have advanced understanding of product relevant industry codes.
- Be able to work in a fast pace environment and think on your feet.
- Can direct and mentor younger, less experienced designers.
- Creation and review of engineering drawings and processing of engineering design changes.
- Participates in interdepartmental discussions verifying fit, interface, and function of relevant components within an associated system.
- Develop an understanding of company engineering procedures, work instructions, core products, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Possess good organizational and communication skills.
- Be comfortable working with and/or exposure to a wide variety of oil & gas equipment.
- Be proficient in SolidWorks or similar 3D packages as well as in 2D CAD.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $46,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
