This position is located in the Sheriff’s Department at the Detention Center and is the main contact for public information at and about the jail, assists the public in person and on the phone, coordinates visitors, takes DNA samples on non-incarcerated convicted felons when requested and conducts fingerprinting for the public, test participants in the 24x7 sobriety program using a Portable Breath Test (PBT) and performs a variety of clerical duties in support of the Detention Center. This position reports to the Detention Center Program Director and does not directly supervise other County personnel.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position requires knowledge of general record keeping procedures, business English, composition, spelling and grammar; office operations and equipment, and must be extremely knowledgeable with using business and office software (Windows) and have the ability to learn new software systems (JMS). The position requires the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and be able to type accurately. This position also requires interpersonal skills and the knowledge and skills of multi-line phones systems, two-way radio systems, safety and security of a secure facility (policies and procedures), an understanding/knowledge of court paperwork; the ability to work with a diverse population and maintain a professional and positive image of the Sheriff’s Office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The required knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and one (1) to two (2) years related work experience.
