GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Development Assistant coordinates with Fund Development to support stewardship activities and events. Duties entail administrative and project-based functions including event logistics, scheduling meetings, handling information requests, maintaining databases, preparing reports and filing. This Position is Tucson based, but does allow for a flexible schedule, and partially remote work.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Essential job functions include the following:
  • Provides ongoing administrative support including preparing and editing presentations, newsletters, reports, correspondence and other documents.
  • Assist with donor relations, including acknowledgement letters, thank you calls, and donor database management.
  • Attend networking events, and other in-person donor engagement opportunities in Tucson and surrounding areas.
  • Support the planning and execution of fundraising events, including coordinating logistics, securing sponsorships, and managing event volunteers.
  • Assist with grant research, writing, and reporting.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify new funding opportunities.
  • Schedules and coordinates meetings and events including notification of attendees, securing facilities, and ordering food and supplies.
  • Maintains Raiser’s Edge database, analyzes and compiles data, and generates reports.
  • Processes all donations in Raisers Edge and sends acknowledgement letters.
  • Works with accounting to reconcile donations.
  • Creates E-blasts and gathers program success stores.
  • Presents Wellness and development initiatives during new hire orientations and staff meetings.
  • Assist with the coordination of wellness programs, including scheduling and logistics, participant outreach, and program evaluation.
  • Support the development of wellness materials, including research, writing, and design.
  • Provide administrative support to the Wellness team, including preparing reports, scheduling meetings, and maintaining records.
  • Monitors, responds to and distributes incoming communications.
  • Develops and carries out an efficient documentation and filing system.
  • Assists with special projects as needed.
  • Interacts with external clients as well as internal staff at all levels.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Two years relevant experience required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including face-to-face interactions with individuals at all levels including board members, donors and volunteers.
  • Occasional travel within the region required.
  • Ability to problem solve, interpret instructions from diverse individuals, and recommend solutions.
  • Commitment to adhere to the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) standards and ethics.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills and database management experience required. Raiser’s Edge experience a plus.
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to support and implement department projects, policies, goals and objectives.
  • Maintain a functional and safe home working space with adequate internet connection for the job.
  • Comply with all agency and program policies and procedures including confidentiality, employee conduct, computer usage and dress code.
  • Meet program/department’s performance and productivity standards.
  • Attend required agency and program/department meetings and activities.
  • Adhere to the schedule agreed upon with the supervisor.
  • Follow and model CFR’s core values.
  • Participate in PQI initiatives.
  • Must be eligible and able to obtain a Level one fingerprint card.
  • Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license, vehicle and meet agency liability insurance requirements.

  • Office-based work with frequent sitting and use of hands and fingers for writing, filing and computer usage.
  • Moderate twisting, bending, stooping and lifting up to 40 pounds in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Ability to use a variety of office equipment and machines as referenced.
  • Normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination required.
  • Repeated hand-wrist movement required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision with or without accommodation.
  • Meet department performance/productivity standards.
The nature of the position involves a fast paced working environment with multitasking of many different duties and tasks. General daily priorities may change at a moment’s notice and the position requires quick response time and flexibility.
