As the Director of Activation & Programming , you will be responsible for activating parks and public spaces through free public programming and events. You will lead a team of project managers and coordinators, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of a variety of events and programs that engage and connect with the local community. This position reports to the Chief of Operations - Development, Marketing and Programs.

About the Position

• Lead a team of project managers and coordinators to plan, organize, and execute inspiring events that engage and connect with the local community.
• In partnership with your team, develop and execute an annual plan that activates parks and public spaces through free public programming and events and builds on the success of our existing programs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Community, Research & Development, Development, and Finance, to ensure the successful implementation of events.
• Manage budgets and timelines for events and prorams, ensuring that they are delivered on time and within budget.
• Use data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of events and optimize them for maximum impact.
• Identify new opportunities for programming and activating parks and public spaces and work with internal and external partners to execute on them.
• Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices and incorporate them into event strategies and initiatives.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners to ensure successful execution of events.
• Support a key division of the Parks & Place team with professional development opportunities and increasing responsibilities.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in a leadership role including track record of success in managing a team
• 5+ years of experience in event management with a focus on community engagement and programming
• Strong strategic and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of local community and public programming.
• Ability to work nights and weekends, with the understanding that much of the job takes place not during regular office hours
• Ability to lift 35 lbs.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Event Management, Hospitality, nonprofit management or a related field preferred. Master's degree preferred.
• San Francisco resident preferred

Position Specifications

• Schedule: Full-time salaried position/exempt (ineligible for overtime)
• Reports to: Chief Operations Officer, Development, Marketing, & Programs
• Department: Activation
• Location: 1074 Folsom St. San Francisco, eligible for hybrid
• Preferred start date: As soon as possible
• Schedule: Eligible for 4-day work week Monday-Thursday, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed

This position is benchmarked at an annual equivalent salary of $109,500 to $123,500 depending on experience.
