The Data and Artificial Intelligence Platform (DAP) group is a key component of Visa's Technology organization that provides the enabling technology and processes to handle Visa's data assets and deliver valuable information, products, and services to customers. DAP delivers secure, high-quality and easy-to-use Visa core data assets as a service, together with reliable and scalable data platform as a service, to enable Visa and our partners to rapidly and efficiently innovate data-driven business products and services to lead the digital payment industry. The team is looking for a key technical leader who has proven experiences of Data, ML/AI fundamentals and AI applications. In this position, you will contribute to both strategic and tactic planning and guide team for execution to continuously advance AI as a Services vision and mission. You should be comfortable leading teams, working with development managers and teams to identify and resolve technical challenges, as well as mentoring and developing others to reach their potential.

Essential Functions:

• Provide leadership and direction to the team with the latest data science and applied artificial intelligence techniques. Lead and grow a team of engineers to design and build ML infrastructure and AI products/services.
• Collaborate with project teams, data science teams and other development teams to drive the technical roadmap and guide development and implementation of new data driven business solutions.
• Drive technical standard and elevated practices in ML and data engineering, and continuously improve engineering scalability.
• Coordinate the implementation among development teams to ensure system performance, security, scalability and availability.
• Coaching and mentoring junior team members and evolving team talent pipeline.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Basic Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 4 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience
• Master’s/PhD in Computer Science or related technical field
• 8-10 years of experience with leading and architecting large-scale distributed infrastructure systems Experience working with Data and AI, designing, and building ML infrastructure to train or serve models
• 8 years of experience in a technical leadership role, being responsible for strategic projects, with 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
• A proven track record working in a sophisticated, matrixed organization.
• Excellence in technical communication with peers and non-technical cohorts.
• Experience working on large open-source projects, preferably in the ML-infrastructure domain like TensorFlow, Ray, JAX, PyTorch, Horovod
• Solid understanding of networking, Linux, Docker, databases, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, etc.
• Experience with applying machine learning to real-world problems
• Experience developing proper metrics instrumentation in software components, to help facilitate real-time and remote troubleshooting/performance monitoring.
• A background in the payment domain is a plus.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
