Job description
OUR GROWTH: Southside Market & Barbeque, the Oldest Authentic Texas BBQ joint in Central Texas, is a privately owned, growing company. We are looking for a Director of Facilities who wants to grow with us. Currently we have 6 operating entities with plans to grow in the near future.
Summary: The Director of Facilities will be responsible for the maintenance of all current and future facilities to include both restaurants in Central Texas and plant in Elgin, Texas, and oversee all installation, repair, upkeep, and daily maintenance operations for the facilities including preventative maintenance schedules and activities. This is a hands-on role!
Primary Functions:
1. Oversees the proper functioning of all building systems for all Southside properties.
a. All Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems
2. Monitors maintenance operations and maintenance labor budgets and approves all contracts, overseeing all daily expenditures.
3. Oversees contractors involved in facility projects and delivery of services, owning the results of all outsourced projects.
4. Oversees and directs SSM Maintenance staff, owning the results of all in-house projects.
5. Keeps all operations in business during all business hours.
6. Monitors and maintains the Equipment and Maintenance portion of the company operations manual.
7. Prioritizes the daily and weekly maintenance requests that are submitted by each company ensuring each entity can conduct business as usual.
Responsibilities:
Plans, organizes, maintains, and manages the operations and general infrastructure systems of all SSM facilities.
Establishes and monitors preventative maintenance processes and programs.
Assists maintenance staff with projects as needed.
Monitors facility inspection processes for on-going review of maintenance work by contractors.
Develops, recommends, and administers policies, procedures, and processes in support of grounds and building maintenance operations and implements and monitors compliance of each.
Monitors spending on projects, recommending and implementing corrective spending plans; reviewing and authorizing purchase orders; administering contracts, obtaining price quotes and bids; purchasing and approving employee purchases.
Trouble-shoots and responds to after-hour and weekend issues as needed regarding the operational aspects of the facilities such as HVAC issues, fire alarm malfunctions, electrical outages, water leaks, etc.
Monitors the safety and accessibility of the facilities. Serves as the point of contract for the department for code (Fire Safety, OSHA).
Coordinates with Plant Management and QA to ensure USDA Facilities and equipment is operational and within USDA guidelines.
Monitors and oversees the work of external contractors to ensure terms of agreements are met and work is completed satisfactorily.
Participates in the development and administration of grounds and building maintenance budget; coordinates the allocation of resources following budget approval; recommends approval of expenditures.
Coordinates with staff and vendors to ensure facilities issues are addressed accurately and promptly with minimal disruption to business and staff.
Supervises training of maintenance personnel on appropriate procedures and use of materials, equipment, including safety and hazardous materials regulations.
Develops recommendations for cost efficiencies and enhancements by monitoring trends in facility maintenance products and pricing.
Establishes & maintains a good working relationship with SSM companies and vendors.
Responsible for the maintenance of all company vehicles.

Qualifications and Skills Requested:
- Bachelor’s degree or associate degree with technical training in plant engineering or factory/plant maintenance preferred.
- Minimum of five years of progressive experience and responsibility in a maintenance field, two of which were holding a supervisory position directing a multifunctional maintenance staff.
- Knowledge of Electrical/HVAC equipment and maintenance
- Knowledge of basic computer systems
- Strong verbal and written grammar skills.
- Budget management experience
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Some flexibility to adjust schedule and work weekends if necessary
Work setting:
- In-person
- Quick service & fast food restaurant
- USDA plant
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Elgin, TX: Home office, Reliably commute daily or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
- Other locations are in Bastrop, Austin, and Hutto
License/Certification:
- Driver's License (Required)
- Food Handlers (able to get upon hire)
- Must be able to pass a Department of Motor Vehicle check (be in good standing) as well as a Background Check (credit and criminal).
