The Director of Imaging will oversee the operations for the daily operations, allocation of and coordination of resources (materials and personnel) for the imaging departments of the East Hawaii Region. This includes the imaging departments for the region’s rural health clinics, PACS, clerical staff and support personnel.

JOB DUTIES
- Manages assigned imaging services sections performance to improve quality of direct patient contact and improve patient, employee, and provider satisfaction.
- Identifies and evaluates barriers within assigned imaging services sections success and is responsible for generating and implementing improvement plans. This position develops strategic plans that establish long and short-term goals for the fiscal success of the assigned imaging services; and the integration of the assigned imaging services sections, and its programs into the larger care system.
- Directs the work of Diagnostic Radiography and CT staff, PACS, clerical, and support staff to improve utilization, maximize the use of personnel and resources, to improve overall efficiencies of the assigned imaging services sections operation and patient centered care.
- Assists in the analysis of the profit and loss performance of assigned imaging services. Makes recommendations to maximize revenue and collections. Proactively identifies opportunities to expand revenue sources and ancillary services and reduce expenses.
- Supports the preparation and governance of the budget for assigned sections. Aids in controlling expenditures of assigned sections by analyzing costs, obtaining complete bids, and evaluating less expensive alternatives in accordance with applicable policies. Contributes to the short and long-term planning activities of assigned sections.
- Responsible for ongoing development of staff and education / in-service programs.
- Builds strong positive communication with physicians and works as a team to enhance the success of the assigned imaging services.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree. Excess work experience as described below in the experience section or any other responsible administrative or professional work experience which provided knowledge, skills, and abilities comparable to those acquired in four years of successful study while completing a university or college curriculum may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. To be acceptable, the experience must have been of such scope, level and quality as to assure the possession of comparable knowledge, skills and abilities. Master’s Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration preferred.
Specialized Experience: Six (6) years of professional work experience in a clinical or outpatient environment which demonstrated responsibility for planning and coordinating service/programs for outpatient clinical care along with solving operational problems involving administrative processes. Two (2) years should include administrative work experience in diagnostic imaging services, special procedure services, and/or cardiovascular service in a clinical or hospital environment.
Supervisory Experience: Three (3) year of work experience which demonstrated the applicant’s knowledge of and ability to apply the principles, practices, techniques and methods of supervision including 1) planning, organizing, and directing the work of others; 2) assigning and reviewing work; 3) advising others on difficult work problems; 4) timing and scheduling work; 5) training and developing new employees.
Administrative Experience: Four (4) year of responsible experience which involved active participation in and major responsibility for administering and directing a clinical service line or practice.
Certification: A current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography (R) is required; Certification in Computer Tomography (CT) preferred. BLS is required within six months of employment.
Licensure: A current State of Hawaii Radiologic Technologist license as a radiographer.
Must be available to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as necessary, based on hospital operations (services are provided 24/7).
MEDICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT: Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIREMENT: COVID-19 vaccination is a condition of employment for Hawaii Health Systems Corporation. After receiving a conditional offer of employment, all prospective new HHSC employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. New employees are required to provide confirmation of their full vaccination status by presenting their CDC vaccination card or VAMS Certificate prior to their start date.
