Office of Research

Job Summary


Director supervises the administrative staff in the Office of Research and manages the financial, technical, and logistical support necessary to sustain enterprise operations. Serves as a member of the Senior Leadership team in the Office of Research. Reports to the Vice Provost for Research.

Responsibilities


Leadership:

  • Supervise direct reporting staff and student workers.

Fiscal:

  • Manage all aspects of the Office of Research Budgets
  • Assist other AVPs/Directors in budget planning and management

Administrative

  • Provide oversight and coordination for standard administrative functions across the Office of Research
  • Supervise hiring and onboarding for new staff
  • Organize regular staff meetings

Logistics

  • Provide oversight and coordination for Core Research Facilities, Research Centers and Institutes
  • Monitor administrative workflow´s and process with a view toward innovation and efficiency.
  • Develop long-term operational strategies, working closely with Senior Leadership, to meet Office of Research objectives and assure team members have relevant resources.
  • Employ data analytic and assessments to produce evaluative reports and improve efficiencies.

Required Qualifications


Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

  • Five (5) or more years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications


Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Strong record of fiscal accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a complex and diverse environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Five (5) or more years of work experience in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience in supervisory and/or management position with progressive responsibility

Proposed Salary


$85,000 - $92, 900

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.

  • Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience in accounting and/or budget management
  • Understanding of how to encourage different functional groups to work together
  • Deep understanding of managing budgets and communicating details

SKILLS

  • Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
  • Excellent diplomatic skills; must be able to represent the university to external parties.
  • Proven skills in project management
