Your Responsibilities
This position is a unique opportunity to lead our company’s most critical strategic initiatives, and to partner with senior leadership in positioning Choice Hotels for future growth. As an internal consulting leader, this role is perfect for a strategic thinker who can build strong relationships at all levels of the business and drive results directly and through others. The Director must be able to quickly shift gears from the abstract to the pragmatic, as they distill abstract concepts into actionable plans. In doing so, they will draw from a wealth of skills including analysis, presentation, communication, project management, process design, and change management. They will lead a small team of direct reports to deliver at the project level, but also have the skills to manage the overall portfolio of initiatives and communicate progress to our executive leadership team.
This role will have a significant impact on our company’s long-term objectives by ensuring that Choice delivers on its vision by performing the following responsibilities:
Drive the evolution of Choice's position in the industry

Manage large-scale projects across multiple business areas, identify cross-functional dependencies, paying attention to detail while helping to solve through roadblocks in a way that aligns with our strategy.

Drive strategic decisions on where the enterprise will focus its efforts and resources, providing both project management as well as proposing strategic direction for the projects across stakeholders.

Manage a nimble team of internal consultants tasked with acceleration of progress on strategic enterprise initiatives with cross-functional impact.

Lead short-term, rapid-response special projects as required by executive leadership.
Manage the enterprise strategic transformation process

Partner with the corporate strategy leaders and business units to ensure that the strategic plan is built with execution in mind, to ensure that we set clear, measurable goals for strategic initiatives.

Measure progress against transformation initiatives, in a way that provides both transparency for the enterprise and drives change where needed.

Work with cross-functional leaders to coordinate action across our most critical strategic initiatives.
Communicate progress

Create monthly executive status report for our strategic initiatives, including risks and mitigation options.

Assist in the development of materials for deep dives for senior leadership, the Board of Directors, Steering Committee, etc.
Talent Management and Development

Manage a team of high performer high potential resources and support their professional development and engagement.

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies
-
10+ years of experience in consulting, strategic finance, FP&A, business analytics, preferably with hospitality industry experience and/or service delivery and customer-oriented functions (marketing, IT, operations, digital distribution).

Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience required. Master’s degree in related field preferred.

Excellent track record of performance in the areas required to excel in this position, including strategic problem-solving, program management, communication, business analytics and strategic finance.

Excellent communicator, with ability to message effectively across various audiences.

Demonstrated ability to build organization alignment and influence organizational changes.

Ability to perform both detail and high-level analyses, and to think about big-picture impacts of strategic decisions while knowing when to insist on precision of data.

Demonstrated flexibility, ability to manage cross functional team initiatives, and comfortable dealing with ambiguity.

Strong project management skills with the ability to effectively lead implementation of key business initiatives, manage multiple priorities and keep projects on track.

Excellent business-savvy with a consultative approach and ability to influence and collaborate with senior level leaders across organizational lines.

Excellent leadership skills and proven ability to multi-task, self-manage and develop relationships and establish trust with associates at all levels.

Your Team
This is a leadership role that will report to the Senior Director, Strategy and Transformation. You will have 1 direct report and collaborate with cross-functional departments on a regular basis.
Your Work Location
As our Director, Strategy and Transformation, you will be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art worldwide corporate headquarters in Rockville, MD. Less than 15 miles from Washington, DC, we’re located directly across from the Rockville Metro station, with service on the Red Line and the MARC Brunswick line, easy access to I-270, and plenty of free parking provided by Choice Hotels.
Right now, our associates in Rockville, MD are working in a hybrid environment, up to 4 days per week in the office and virtual from your home office the remaining days. We provide flexibility and encourage ongoing communication with your leadership to establish expectations about your unique needs.
