Position Summary

As the Director of Product and Portfolio Management, you will play a critical role in the short- and long-term success of Magnolia Medical Technologies. You will be responsible for the development, prioritization, and execution of product and portfolio strategies that:


  • Drive penetration of Magnolia Medical’s product in the market
  • Earn competitive market share
  • Achieve revenue objectives
  • Positions the company for sustained success

As a qualified candidate, you will have experience ranging in areas of market and competitive analysis, marketing segmentation, product development, new product launch, and will have worked in close collaboration with internal stakeholders, including R&D, Operations, RA/QA, and Commercial, to set the direction and drive execution of the company’s multi-generational product plan.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Serve as the focal point for the Company with regards to product and market knowledge.
  • Product lifecycle management, from generation of customer and market insights to concept and product development and launch and including product discontinuation.
  • Anticipating new market demands and creation of new markets, providing leadership for product/concept justification during funding cycle to product development.
  • Using market research, KOL input, customer input, clinical team input, internal stakeholder feedback and other means to ensure market-driven profitable and differentiated products are delivered to the market, ensuring that appropriate customer requirements and design inputs are crafted to guide the development team.
  • Providing leadership and direction to R&D and support organizations throughout development cycle (e.g., trade-off analysis across customer, financial and timeline impacts).
  • Directing go-to-market strategy for new product launches, including definition of and segmentation of the market, targeting and positioning, and all aspects of the marketing mix (product, price, promotion, and sales enablement).
  • Develop and execute an ongoing market feedback process that includes customer satisfaction assessment, market research (voice of customer) and competitive analyses that provide the Company with an integrated strategic marketing focus to greatly enhance current and future product investments.
  • Ensuring launch and post-launch success by providing support to the commercial organization.
  • Participating in strategic planning initiatives such as portfolio management process and long-range strategic planning to ensure profitable growth opportunities are supported.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of post-MBA experience in healthcare marketing (medical device, biotech, IVD).
  • Prior IVD experience a plus.
  • Technical experience or education a plus (undergraduate degree in engineering or life sciences).
  • Product development and launch experience, including go-to-market planning.
  • Strong team player who can incorporate input from others and can generate consensus through inclusion. Ability to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders in Research and Development, Operations, Quality, and Commercial.
  • Good organizational skills and can routinely work on multiple tasks with multiple people while effectively prioritizing.
  • Strong critical thinker and sound decision-making capabilities with the ability to take insights to actions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills for a wide variety of audiences.
  • Exceptional writing skills and ability to succinctly convey information in-person.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • This position requires driving and travelling to visit customers and attend business meetings (~20%).
