Position Summary

The test proctor position will primarily be responsible for overseeing on-campus exams while in a non-distracting environment. Many students registered with the DRC have accommodations on their testing environment and times. An ideal candidate will be able to administer accommodated exams while maintaining exam integrity and to communicate with students, faculty, and DRC staff any exceptions. Staff may also be assigned to assist students as a scribe or reader in line with their accommodations. Work is highly detail-oriented and must meet stringent quality standards. Requires moderate degree of responsibility and judgment regarding work.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule

Pay rate: $15.74/hour.

The successful candidate is expected to work 16 hours per week. This position typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment.

The temporary hourly employment is limited to the earlier of 1,050 hours or 12 consecutive months beginning from the original date of hire. Per WAC 357-04-045 , following 1,050 hours or 12 consecutive months, an individual is not eligible for re-employment at Bellevue College in another temporary part-time hourly position. Temporary hourly employees who work more than three hundred fifty (350) hours in a twelve consecutive month period may be subject to provisions of one the collective bargaining agreements covering Classified employees at Bellevue College.

This position is expected to NOT be eligible for benefits because eligibility is limited only to employees working at least an average of 80 hours in eligible employment for more than 6 consecutive months and at least 8 hours a month. Eligible positions are eligible for certain benefits .

About the Department

The Disability Resource Center (DRC) is dedicated to service excellence in the provision of comprehensive and flexible accommodation plans which contribute to the successful academic endeavors of qualified students who have disabilities. The DRC works in innovative ways to provide teaching and learning opportunities to college employees and community partners which further the understanding and success of the students we serve. The DRC nurtures and coaches its students in skills necessary to achieve success academically and in promoting essential life skills which will integrate students who have disabilities into the overall pluralistic fabric of the community.

Essential Functions

Proctor tests per faculty instruction and in accordance with the DRC policy. Monitor all testing students during test proctoring, including frequent checking of rooms and quickly moving between different spaces. Maintain locked storage for students' belongings during testing.

Input student data information to the DRC database. Create and maintain DRC student files, archiving old records according to BC policy.

Assist in the coordination and administration of all aspects of quarterly mid-term and final testing, including procurement of additional rooms and proctors.

Create reports of front desk traffic, including requests for accommodations and students testing.

Schedule appointments and support other DRC team members.

Refer students appropriately to other Student Services and educational departments.

Maintain confidentiality of all student information in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA laws.

Represent the Disability Resource Center on campus and in the community, participating in outreach and educational programs.

Assist with coordination of assessment testing for students with disabilities.

Handle with precision difficult student situations; be flexible to circumstances that may arise, and multi-task when needed.

Work in partnership with assessment staff to collaborate on projects and office work during slow periods.

Other duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

One (1) year of customer service experience

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Experience using Microsoft Office products

Demonstrated experience problem solving complicated situations

Ability to sit or remain in one area for long periods of time

Ability to evaluate workload and place priority on pressing demands

Ability to adapt to changing circumstances based on the situation

Ability to complete work independently

Ability to follow testing guidelines

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a college setting

Previous work with diverse populations, including disability

Experience providing reasonable accommodation in either higher education or employment

Advanced computer skills in Outlook, Excel, and Access database development/reporting

Office management skills

Knowledge of assistive technology
