Job description

The Dispatcher will coordinate and schedule drivers for pick-up and delivery in a safe, efficient, and timely manner from the hours of 5:00 - 13:00 CST Wednesday - Saturday.
The Dispatcher will earn an hourly rate of $23.78 plus a fringe bonus wage of $4.41/hour toward benefits including retirement and health insurance.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Supervises drivers at corresponding location

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Schedules drivers for pick-up and delivery; selects most efficient routes for each driver.

• Oversees vehicle availability; assigns drivers, and coordinates with VA travel department to ensure accuracy.

• Anticipates weather complications along routes and at the drivers’ destinations; communicates delays and route changes as necessary.

• Maintains phone contact with drivers; receives and dispatches response

• Coordinates trips in CTS and makes real-time adjustments in the system

• Maintains and reviews timecard and operation records; monitors daily logs for errors and/or compliance violations.

• Ensures each driver is allocated appropriate mealtimes.

• Inputs “Schedule” into ADP Workforce Now daily.

• Monitors drivers’ working hours to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.

• Reports all accidents to Risk & Safety Officer with immediacy.

• Oversees maintenance and repair schedules for vehicles.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Exceptional phone demeanor; professional, respectful, clear, and concise.

• Ability to learn new computer programs/softwares; excellent computer skills

• Strong organizational skills to prepare and assign routes.

• Strong leadership skills to ensure drivers’ compliance with direction and assignments.

• Basic understanding of geographical area and mapping programs to facilitate efficient routing.

• Proficient with or able to quickly learn dispatch and recordkeeping systems.

• Ability to work at a fast pace and under pressure.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
