We are searching for an experienced Division Controller-Forest Resources & Wood Products at our Headquarters facility.
The Division Controller will support the Business Leaders of Forest Resources & Wood Products and ensure the division financial transactions are reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This requires taking an active role in the formulation of business strategies and plans. The Division Controller provides management with support and assistance to closely monitor business performance of new business ventures; prepares financial data projections for various business scenarios and tracks projects to assure desired results are being obtained; and analyzes and communicates financial results to Business Leaders. This position is also responsible for maintenance of internal control systems that safeguard the assets of the Forest Resources and Wood Products Divisions.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare financial analysis for manufacturing alternatives that will produce the highest gross margin possible for all product mixes because of changes in sales prices, log costs and other manufacturing costs. These analyses include analyzing shifting production from either the sawmill or timber mill to determine the number of shifts in each mill. These analyses are prepared by working closely with production managers and understanding the entire mill manufacturing process.
- Schedule, coordinate, manage, prepare all information for monthly closings, analyze, and review monthly results with Business Leaders and Managers
- Schedule, coordinate, and manage all information obtained from working with Business Leaders and Managers to prepare annual and quarterly operating forecasts.
- Obtain all pertinent data and prepare a justification evaluation for all discretionary capital spending projects. On a monthly basis ensure spending on approved capital projects are accounted for appropriately and ability to perform an end of project audit to ensure project justification is met.
- Manage credit process for Forest Resources & Wood Products accounts receivable which includes assigning credit ratings to new customers based on analysis of D&B reports.
- Schedule, coordinate, and manage year end physical inventory of all raw materials and finished goods for external auditors. Ensure accurate counts are completed during the process to resolve any discrepancies between physical and book inventories.
- Coordinate monthly forecasting and annual budgeting with all managers across Forest Resources & Wood Product Departments.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 8 years proven accounting experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with Division and Corporate employees at all levels
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively and accurately with multiple priorities
- Positive attitude and team player
- Capable of multi-tasking and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
- Past work experience must demonstrate attention to detail with financial accounting and tax issues
- Highly organized with strong emphasis on self-motivation and analytical skills
- CPA or progress working towards completion
