Presents findings using qualitative examples and quantitative data to show progress towards goals.

POSITION PURPOSE

The Documentation Control Specialist will assist in coordinating the quarterly Continuous Quality Improvement meeting.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

1. EDUCATION:

High School/ Some college preferred.

2. EXPERIENCE:

At least one year of medical auditing or HIM coding is preferred.

3. LICENSURE/CERFICATION:

None

4. SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrates Proficiency in Communication & Written skills.
  • Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality laws.
  • Knowledge of Drug-Free Workplace Policies.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Violence.
  • Knowledge of Corporate Integrity & Compliance Program.
  • Must be able to thrive in a high stress environment.

Position is required to work in a temperature-controlled environment; 80% - 90% of the time spent indoors.

SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION:

  • Present findings using qualitative examples and quantitative data to show progress towards goals.
  • Support and assist in coordinating the quarterly Continuous Quality Improvement meeting.
  • Plan and conduct regular in-service and continuing education opportunities for providers and clinical support staff.
  • Encourage the appropriate use of healthcare services and strive to improve the quality of care.
  • Build strong rapport with clinical and medical staff.
  • Adhere at all times to both general and clinical guidelines.
  • Adhere to regulatory documentation requirements that oversee each facility.
  • Adhere to insurance payor documentation standards.
  • Adhere to all HIPAA and confidentiality laws as appropriate
  • Effective written, verbal, and electronic communication skills; including public speaking.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.
  • Knowledge in Kipu electronic medical record
  • Foster and maintain teamwork.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare team.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Computer competency is required.
  • Bilingual is a plus (English / Spanish).
  • Ability to view a computer screen for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff.
  • Coordinate auditing teams
  • Ensure excellent communication between teams and internal management or clients
  • Ability to travel
  • Pinpoint with accuracy issues in documentation, sourcing, and data quality through review
  • Read, analyze, and interpret existing data and documents for accuracy and completeness
  • Assist in the development of audit schedules and plans
  • Assist the audit team in creating audit reports; present audit reports to top management, as needed
  • Give a helping hand with follow-up audits, when needed.
