    Field Elementary School has a few openings for full time educational assistants (6.5 hours a day). We are looking for student centered people willing to support our students in growing in their academic, social, and emotional development.

    Certificates, Licenses. Registrations
    At a minimum, employee must hold and maintain a PARA License (Paraprofessional Educator) or equivalent through the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).

    Summary
    Performs any combination of the following instructional duties in order to assist students in a special education classroom or environment. These duties are initiated and supervised by the classroom teacher and/or case manager and include working with other students in need of assistance when the needs of the primarily assigned student have been met.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Maintain an effective working relationship with classroom teachers and special education staff to implement goals, modifications and adaptations (provided by certified teacher) for each student while reinforcing learned skills.
    • Model, positively reinforce and assist in shaping desired student behaviors in accordance with the student's individualized educational plan.
    • Assist with establishing and maintaining appropriate classroom routines for all students under the guidance of the classroom teacher and/or case manager. • Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments in order to present or reinforce learning concepts.
    • Assist teacher/case manager with data collection on students' behavior and/or performance.
    • Monitor and assist with student movement throughout the building during transitions.
    • Monitor and assist with student movement and behavior while on field trips.
    • Assist students with daily activities that they are unable to perform for themselves.
    • Assemble, sanitize (when necessary) and prepare needed materials for students.
    • Assist students with appropriate technology and its effective use.
    • Confer with teacher on progress of students and seek clarification where direction may be unspecified or unclear.
    • Monitor students at arrival and departure times; escort them to and from school bus or personal vehicle.
    • Supervise and assist students during lunch program-both while eating and then during remaining free time.
    • Other functions may be assigned.
