Role and Responsibilities
Review, analyze, and design control systems that integrate the following components: sensors, drives, motors, PLCs, PCs, and other data acquisition and control components; to the existing/new machine.
Review, analyze, and design motor drive systems that integrate the following components: voltage transformers, circuit breakers, motor starters, relays, terminal blocks, wire, and cable among other components appropriately per the intended function and needs of the system.
Programming of PLCs (Allen-Bradley) and the integration to Industrial Computers via RSLogix 500/5000 and ladder logic.
Setup and tuning DC Drives and AC Drives (ABB, Allen-Bradley, Parker).
Integrate the electrical and control system to the existing Hydraulics and Pneumatics systems (solenoids, servo valves)
Setup and tune the PID control and various control systems (such as servo-hydraulic and closed-loop electrical servo systems).
Design and integrate various sensors: Strain-gage, LVDT, and other sensors and amplification of such signals
Work with the software programmer to step-through compiled programs (C/C++, Delphi, VBA).
Design and setup the Data Acquisition Systems from PC via ActiveX, DLL, etc.; Install and set-up various electrical signals boards: Microstar, Measurement Computing, Keithley, Opto22.
Analyze and design the electrical circuit and board layout
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), with 3-5 years of experience in field of study.
Preferred Skills
Firm handle on Power Systems design (three-phase distribution and motors)
Knowledge of college level mathematics: algebra, geometry, statistics, and their applications.
Ability to analyze, design, and modify schematics and panel layouts.
Some knowledge of various standards for industrial controls design.
Ability to analyze, design, and modify the electrical system appropriately for safety.
Some knowledge of UL, OSHA, ISO, EN Harmonized, ANSI, and IEC standards.
Ability to analyze, design, and layout conduit schedule.
Understanding of grounding scheme and how it relates to noise reduction in system design.
Ability to generate bills of material via Microsoft Excel, Access.
Some knowledge on CE Certification: Machinery Directive, Risk Assessment, and EMC Directives
