Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems (AES) is seeking a Staff or Principal Level Electrical Engineer (dependent on experience) with a track record of implementing current technology into power supply and/or power conversion products.

This is an on-site position that offers flexibility to work from home 2-3 days per week.

Job Summary:

Perform the engineering development and associated support of contracted programs, bid and proposals, and internal research and development activities. Assist in new business development and follow-on activities. This Staff or Principal level position requires solid leadership, mentoring and presentation skills along with wide-ranging technical experience. Independently utilizes a high degree of creative ability, engineering skill and judgment in applying engineering principles.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Propose and perform R&D and drive power supply and power conversion technology innovation into New Product Development.
• Responsible for the technical aspects of design and development of in-seat power supplies and USB OUs for commercial aircraft.
• Stay abreast of power conversion industry and technology trends and adapt this knowledge to relevant innovation.
• Conduct trade studies to determine optimum approach; Develop new and improve existing technologies; Recommend standard topologies for specific applications.
• Resolve technical problems with a high degree of analytical expertise and originality and drive problems to resolution.
• Prepare and present analyses and technical rationales for your designs at internal and external reviews.
• Meet DO-160, Boeing, and Airbus requirements and develop and support test procedures and reports.
• May provide EE team leadership on a product development or research project.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. Advanced degree is a plus.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the duties & responsibilities of the role / direct experience with design of power supply products; Typically obtained with eight (8) or more years’ experience for Staff Level Engineer and twelve (12) or more years’ experience for Principal Level Engineer
• Broad experience with advanced simulation tools: OrCAD, SPICE, and SABER
• Experience designing to DO-160 and other applicable standards

EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

• As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible.
• An offer of employment is contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment background screen and drug test including cannabis.

Base salary range for Staff Electrical Engineer is $122,003 - $183,004 per year.

Base salary range for Principal Electrical Engineer is $152,072 - $242,920 per year.
