ELECTRICIAN SUPERVISOR I/II
Hilo Medical Center, Plant Maintenance | Hilo, Hawaii | 100% Full-Time with Benefits

SALARY:

  • Level I: $85,008/year ($7,084/month); Step A ($5,955/month base salary + $1,129/month shortage differential)
  • Level II: $95,004/year ($7,917/month); Step A ($6,337/month base salary + $747/month shortage differential)

POSITION FOCUS: The Electrician Supervisor I/II independently performs and supervises a variety of electricians and highly skilled electrical work in the installation, servicing, and maintenance of electrical of electrical systems and equipment, as required by Hilo Medical Center and the East Hawaii Region. This position also performs other duties as assigned to include assigned projects for the East Hawaii Region.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Installs conduits, outlets, switches, light fixtures, electrical panels switchboards, transformers, circuits breakers, motors and pumps, air conditioners, TV, PA, computers, nurse call, fire alarm, generators, etc.
  • Services and repairs all electrical system generators, circuit breakers, switchboards, transformers, medical equipment, etc.
  • Rewire building from drawings and blueprints, test, locates and repairs trouble in electrical circuits and equipment, traces, and diagrams wiring circuits, inspects street lighting etc.
  • Operates and utilizes various tools and equipment used in the electrical trade such as conduit bender, threading machine, knockout punch, voltage tester megger, multi digital tester equipment isolation ground tester, infrared heat sensor, etc.
  • Plans, lays out, assigns and reviews the work of one or more groups of skilled electricians;
  • Develops a program of preventive maintenance; determines the need for electrical repairs; reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, manuals and other materials; estimates time and material needs to complete electrical work, and keep records and make reports;
  • Manage project related activities that involve the scope of expertise of an electrician; act as a subject matter expert on project teams; manage electrical projects independently.
  • Answers emergency call for breakdowns and schedules on-call rotation. Provides electrical services to Ka’u Hospital, Hale Ho’ola Hamakua and the East Hawaii Clinics on an as-needed basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: None required. High school diploma or equivalency highly desired.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Electrician Supervisor I: Two (2) years of experience as a licensed electrician. At least one year of such experience must have involved supervising the work of other journey level electricians, which demonstrated the applicant's knowledge of and ability to apply the principles, practices, techniques and methods of supervision including: (1) planning, organizing and directing the work of others; (2) assigning and reviewing work; (3) advising others on difficult work problems; (4) timing and scheduling work; and (5) training and developing employees
  • Electrician Supervisor II: Three (3) years of experience as a licensed electrician. At least two (2) years of such experience must have involved supervising the work of other journey level electricians, which demonstrated the applicant's knowledge of and ability to apply the principles, practices, techniques and methods of supervision including: (1) planning, organizing and directing the work of others; (2) assigning and reviewing work; (3) advising others on difficult work problems; (4) timing and scheduling work; and (5) training and developing employees.

LICENSURE: Applicants must possess a valid State of Hawaii Journey Worker Electrician License, Journey Worker Industrial Electrician License, Supervising Electrician License, or Supervising Industrial Electrician License.

CERTIFICATION: None required

MEDICAL/PHYSICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT: Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment physical examination, which includes drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, two-step tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for physical examinations, except the cost for drug screening, shall be borne by the applicant and not the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
