    Elementary Classroom Interventionist - Willow Brook Elementary - Remainder of the 2022-2023 School Year

    Position Purpose:
    Under the general supervision of the school principal, facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; teaching students in small groups for those struggling in the areas of reading and mathematics; planning and collaborating with other classroom teachers and building paraprofessionals in order to assist paraprofessional with teaching small groups; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
    Essential Functions:
    • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized learning and small group instruction.
    • Develops lesson plans and utilizes instructional materials consistent with district curriculum that result in high quality learning experiences.
    • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods based on individual student needs.
    • Supports the educational programs and services of the district by working collaboratively with teachers.
    • Keeps accurate and complete records regarding achievement, and attendance as required by the district/building procedures/policies.
    • Evaluates student achievement and assists with placing students in appropriate intervention services.
    • Meets regularly with the principal and instructional specialist to report on academic progress and action plan.
    • Assists paraprofessionals with the planning and pacing of intervention lessons, the development of differentiated learning opportunities and the implementation of best practices in order to meet the individual needs of students.
    • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and their parents/guardians.
    • Ensures that student behavior conforms to the school/district policies and establishes/maintains standards of student conduct needed to achieve an effective learning environment.
    • Continues to acquire professional knowledge of developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, professional development, department/district meetings, and/or by conducting research.
    • Coordinates with other staff members, participates in faculty meetings, and attends professional development.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.

    • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal(s).

    Travel Requirements:
    • Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
    • Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
    • Ability to use learning software applications as needed.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with students and their parents/guardians.
    • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.

    Qualifications:
    • Missouri Elementary B-3, K-8 or 1-6 teaching certification

    Education:

    • Bachelors or masters degree from an accredited college or university.
