COMPASS Academy is a new public charter school located off Lyndale Avenue in Bloomington.This is the second campus within district 4240 in addition to New Century School, located in St. Paul. COMPASS Academy hires high quality staff that are well trained and prepared to teach in a high standard educational environment. We have rigorous curriculum and programming that is data driven.

We are seeking a Dean of Students and Parent Liaison for the 2023-2024 school year to assist the Director in discipline, supervision, and attendance. This individual will also be responsible for supporting the school and district initiatives that create a safe and engaging learning environment and increase student achievement.

Start Date: August 2023

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of three years successful teaching experience - elementary preferred
• Demonstrate leadership at the building or district level
• Demonstrate success working with classroom management and student discipline issues
• Knowledgeable about behavior plans and special education processes and procedures
• Participation in development of school improvement goals and objectives
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to facilitate and participate in collaborative processes

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist in creating a positive school environment conducive to teaching and learning
• Serve as a resource to staff in dealing with classroom management issues and student discipline
• Assist the principal with the responsibility for protecting the health and welfare of students
• Assist the principal in development and successful implementation of school improvement goals/objectives
• Assist in developing and implementing behavior expectations, plans and interventions for students
• Work closely with special education representatives and parents to foster positive relations and to support student learning
• Communicate effectively and openly with parents and the public, and continue positive school/community relations and partnerships that enhance district programs and services
• Perform other related duties as assigned, during the contracted work day
