Do you want to work from home after training? Do you have customer service, call center and payroll experience? The Division of Human Resource Management (DHRM) with the Department of Government Operations (DGO) is seeking candidates who excel in providing exceptional customer services to individuals over-the-phone and enjoy working in a fast-paced call center environment from home. Join the Employee Resource Information Center (ERIC) team as an ERIC Technician II. You will be trained to process state of Utah employees retirement paperwork, process statewide payroll, explain statewide employee benefits, onboard new hires, process personnel actions, and more. This is an entry level position with various opportunities to develop skills and move up in your human resources career. You are required to be logged into the phone system and available to answer phone calls for up to 7 hours a day. Due to the sensitive nature of the information handled by the ERIC, you must be able to pass a background check prior to employment. These positions may work from home once an 8 week in-person training is complete.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Has work experience in a call center environment taking inbound calls.
- Has professional customer service experience including assisting difficult customers.
- Has human resource experience.
- Has the ability to work in a team environment.
- Has excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Has the skills to deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
- Has the knowledge of the laws governing access to public and private records (Government Records Access and Management Act).
May be given to applicants with:
- Two years of experience in human resources or in a business office environment; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Principal Duties
The main duties for this position include:
- Answering phone calls from future, current, and past State of Utah employees and providing appropriate statewide information.
- Responding to phone, electronic, email, and fax inquiries regarding benefits, payroll, or general state employment questions by providing information or directing the employee to the appropriate information.
- Logging each inquiry into a case management system to ensure accurate records.
- Researching, interpreting, and applying general knowledge of human resource related reports, policies, and procedures.
- Processing new hire paperwork including E-Verify.
- Verifying payroll information and entering corrected or missed timesheets for processing.
- Reviewing and auditing payroll edit reports; identifying errors and returning reports for corrections; auditing final summary reports.
- Drafting and finalizing state retirement worksheets.
- Responding to verbal and written Employment of Verification requests.
- Employment contingent on passing a background check.
- Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
- Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
