POSITION: EMS Clerk Part Time
DEPARTMENT: EMS

RATE OF PAY: $18.41 (NBU)
LOCATION: EMS Petoskey

JOB SUMMARY:

The EMS Clerk is responsible for assisting with general office tasks, data entry for medical billing, processing patient statements, and communicating with patients regarding billing for both Emmet County EMS and Lake Charlevoix Ambulance Authority. The EMS Clerk will be responsible for working with confidential and time sensitive material. Familiar with department’s practices, policies and procedures effectively communicate via phone and email.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Answering phone calls to billing office
• Greeting citizens coming into the building
• Scheduling the training and conference rooms
• Data entry for the Assure Program for Emmet County
• Data entry for ambulance billing
• Preparing and mailing patient statements
• Patient demographic research
• Process payments received
• Contacting patients with outstanding accounts
• Performs other duties as directed or assigned by the EMS Director

• Must be able to execute tasks and problem solve

• Previous knowledge of medical and ambulance billing procedures is preferred

Education

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent

Experience

• 1-year Medical office experience preferred
• 1-year previous customer service experience preferred
