Salary range for this position is: $72,023/yr. - $99,462/yr. (depending on experience)
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
Under the supervision of the Dean of Student Development, the Director of Student Involvement is responsible for spearheading experiential and co-curricular learning opportunities for Seattle Central, and is focused providing students a learning laboratory for personal growth and the development of life long skills through active experiences, focused on well-being, recreational and student identity and leadership development to energetically support student involvement that creates connections for student success. Additionally, the position is directly responsible to train, supervise, and assist, Student Involvement staff in the integration and application of outcomes-based assessment, student engagement and mentorship practices that are multicultural student development centered.
This position supervises the recruitment, training and involvement of students in the various Student Leadership Boards, Committees, and Teams in Student Leadership and the Mitchell Activity Center and coordinating with International Programs to ensure a seamless, campus wide system of student involvement opportunities. Broadly champions student leadership to the wider campus community.

What you will be working on:
Supervision & Management (25%)
- Hire, supervise and evaluate the work and development of staff. Support, inspire and mentor staff, fostering a culture of excellence, equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace and in all aspects of staff and student leadership development and programming. Leading staff, developmentally in creating a stellar student engagement and leadership program.
- Manage, and oversee the design and implementation of a comprehensive campus recreation student centered program that provides a broad selection of cultural activities, events and classes, and a strong program of physical recreation and wellness activities. Provide coaching and professional development opportunities that enable high levels of performance and achievement of departmental goals.
- Manage the Student InvolvementInvolvement annual budgets of approximately $1,000,000.
- Develop, monitor, and manage the Student Leadership Board, Committees, and Teams budgets (Associated Student Council, College Activities, Info Central, Student Web and Publications, and Student Organization Resource).
- Work with staff, and collaborates with key departments and programs, to develop and implement an innovative, student-centered leadership program that applies student development theory. Support student learning through co- and extra-curricular programs and other outside classroom learning experiences. Provide a program that affects a broad, cross-campus student population.
Training & Development (25%)
- Direct the Full-time Staff (Program Specialists and Manger) in development and coordination of the summer Student Leadership Orientation for incoming student leadership and Winter/Spring all-student leadership retreats.
- Work with staff to develop curriculum and learning outcomes for the Leadership Institute, Welcome Week, and student achievement initiatives.
- Serve as staff advisor to the Associate Student Council, facilitating their training and monitoring their continuous leadership development.
- Collaborate with student achievement initiatives such as Fellas Friday and work with staff to support and grow the program, which work with African American males.
Hiring & Recruitment (20%)
- Direct the annual recruitment and selection process of students for leadership boards, committees, and teams including the Student Organizations Resource, College Activities, Info Central, Associated Student Council, MAC, and Student Web and Publications.
- Directly responsible for supervising the recruitment, training support, develop student teams and involvement of students in: The Associated Student Council, Cultural Programming and Development, Student Clubs and Organizations, Information Central, and Student Publications, and for coordinating with the Mitchell Activity Center and International Programs to ensure a seamless, campus wide system of student involvement opportunities.
Marketing & Publications (10%)
- Oversee development and presentation of Student InvolvementInvolvement marketing and publications including the Seattle Central Student Handbook, the Seattle Central Student Organizations Handbook, a variety of brochures and fliers, and bulletin boards throughout the college.
- Informs students and promotes program engagement to create community and campus life and student engagement.
- Manage relationships with the Public Information Office and develop/monitor/update content of Student Involvement webpages on college website.
Assessment & Program Evaluation (10%)
- Train, supervise, and assist Student Involvement staff in the integration and application of outcomes-based assessment, and student engagement and mentorship practices.
- Organize ongoing assessment process including learning outcomes survey, student board member reflections, and staff files of individual student leaders.
Institutional Collaborations & Contributions (10%)
- Contributes to the development of an integrated, unified approach to addressing student needs at Seattle Central through representation of the Student Involvement department on institution-wide work groups.
- Collaborate and represent the college with Student Involvement (Student Life) programs at North, South, satellite sites, and state-wide councils on meetings, joint trainings and projects.
- Interpret and apply District, Campus and Division policies and advice students, staff and program participants regarding program content, policies, procedures and activities.
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Student Development.

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)
- Master’s degree (or combined equivalent undergraduate degree plus years of service) in Education, Student Development, Recreation, or related field
- Three or more years of experience working in a higher education environment.
- Demonstrated experience working with a diverse population & knowledge of Social Justice that considering access, equity, participation, and human rights.
- Demonstrated supervision experience with the ability to coach others to high performance and guide staff to a common goal.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills to work with historically underrepresented students.
- Demonstrated experience working with historically underserved students of color
- Demonstrated experience developing strategic systems and implementing assessment strategies.
- Demonstrated collaborative skills and experience in leading teams in projects.
- Demonstrated effective time management skills.
- Demonstrated experience with the use of social media to promote programs and activities.
- Demonstrated excellence in communications, to include effective public speaking and writing.
Physical Requirements:
The position
- Typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office.
- Encounters frequent interruptions throughout the workday.
- Is regularly required to provide 1:1 support, present to small groups, and work at a computer exercising repetitive hand motion with or without reasonable accommodation.
